When applying for initial marriage visa from britain, is it ok to use british bank account to show equivilant to ฿400,000? Has anyone done this and can share their experience?
Answer summary
When applying for an initial marriage visa (Non-O) from the UK, you can use funds from your British bank account to show the equivalent of ฿400,000. However, for a 12-month extension of stay, the funds must be transferred to a Thai bank account and held there for at least two months before applying. It's important to note that while the initial application can be supported by UK bank statements, the extension requires evidence of funds in Thailand. Previous experiences shared by others indicate that successful initial applications may not focus heavily on financial requirements, but subsequent extensions do.

In the UK you need the equivalent of 400k baht in your UK bank for one month or 3 months bank statements showing at least 40k income per month. I've used both in the past. When you apply for a 12 month extension in Thailand the 400k must be in a Thai bank in your name for two months before you apply.
ok cool thank you, thats the amount that ive reserved to keep aside for the yearly visa renewal anyway ( basically consider it spent to avoid problems with renewal)
Well when I got my first in NZ, 2020 it was a year with multiple entries and it just said" following wife to Thailand" no one asked about money or anything else, got on a plane via Hong Kong and he we are. Then the fun started after I received a 90 day stamp.
Yes. If you apply in the UK you can use funds in your UK bank account for the 90 day visa, but will need funds in a Thai bank for the 12 month extension of stay
