I am hearing some changes to renewing a one year retirement visa?
I used an agent last year. I have a bank account with Bangkok bank. Agent says no problem come 1 month before its due. I have a few months..... What's everyone's expierence since renewing with their agent only in last few months or so.
Appreciate response. I used search function. Didn't find anything.
I am hearing about bank accounts being frozen and other issues.
My embassy doesn't verify funds for me.
Also I was ignorant and did not update my passbook as I couldn't find it for a bit so it doesn't show my consistent income of 65k + monthly entries .
Is there a way to get that from bank ? Is it necessary. ?
I really dont want to put up and leave 800k in a bank here. Whole reason I did my visa with an agent. If you know you remember how that hurdle is addressed. I am hearing that they can't do that anymore. Hence the 4 month freeze is what i think they're doing. Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for the help.
TLDR : Answer Summary
There have been recent discussions about the renewal process for retirement visas in Thailand, especially concerning bank requirements. Many expats are clarifying the need for 800,000 baht in a Thai bank to comply with financial regulations or whether using the 65,000 baht monthly deposit method is viable. Users shared their varied experiences, particularly the tightening of policies by certain banks like Bangkok Bank, and the necessity for updated bank documents when applying for extensions. It's emphasized that the best course of action is to directly consult the immigration office or the agent managing the visa renewal.
