I am confused regarding the amount to be deposited in a Thai Bank Account before extending a Non O 90 day single entry spouse visa for a year. I have been receiving conflicting information as to whether it is 800,000 baht or 400,000 baht?

Please advise.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The amount required to be deposited in a Thai bank account for extending a Non-O visa varies depending on the applicant's marital status. Married individuals need 400,000 Baht, while unmarried applicants must have 800,000 Baht. The funds must be in an instant access account and must meet seasoning requirements, remaining above the stated amounts for a certain period before and after applying. Alternatives like proof of a monthly income of 65,000 Baht or more can negate the need for such bank deposits.

400k for 3 months. Need to issue letter from Thai bank. Chonburi immigration.

Does the 800,000 also have to come from abroad? I have a US dollar and baht account in Bangkok so easier if I simply transfer between them rather than from abroad.

Check with your local immigration office on this one. Some IOs care about where the money comes from, and others could care less.

I have never been required any amounts in a Thai bank since I have returned home each year and applied for a new visa at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. Very simple process and only need about 700 US dollars in my American bank account. I am hoping not much changes by next year when I go back for a new visa. Anyone else doing the same thing?
Darrell ********
I'm going to have to get a new visa for my return to Thailand, too. The LA consulate says to show $700 in a bank account. With al the things going on I wouldn't be surprised if things were to change.

@Darrell *******
, I hope not since it is a very easy process. I will not be trying to obtain another visa until next year. Hopefully things will have calmed down by then.

@Ri**
, I hope it doesn't change either. To me, it feels like Thailand is trying to recoup some of the lost money from this pandemic.
Rick *******
Yes they definitely are.

. That's provided your embassy will provide you with the affidavit. What nationality are you?
Ivan ************
@Bo***
I don't believe you need the affadavit if you transfer 65k minimum in each month. The affadavit was for people who didn't want to actually transfer the money in.

Also, for marriage it's 40k and can be domestic (Thai) source, doesn't even have to be transferred in, just have to show the income.
Bobby ********
@Ivan ***********
. Yes that's correct. If the money hits the Thai bank account it's all good. The OP was saying he just needs proof of pension, and that has to be confirmed by the embassy

A Fixed Deposit Account (more interest) is also acceptable, at least at some IOs.

If it’s 400,000 I don’t mind leaving it in the account all year.

Better than throwing away 500,000 on a Thai Elite Visa!
Steve *********
Married = 400,000

Unmarried = 800,000

The bank account MUST be an instant access account in the applicant's name only (no joint accounts).

Don't forget that it also has to be seasoned before and after you apply, effectively tying it up for almost half the year. It also has to stay at or above a minimum level for the other half of the year.

@Steve ********
800k is for retirement and only qualifies for applicants 50 years and older.
Steven ***************
@Steve ********
. For spouse extension the 400k has to stay in account for the 30 days under consideration. Once you get the stamp.in your passport, you can access the money until you need it for the next year.
Steve *********
@Steven **************
yes, though my inclination is to place it there and leave it all year, rather than make a frantic scramble to replace it the following year!
Steven ***************
@Steve ********
. Me too, but the info was for those worried about tying up 400k all year.

400,000

It's two calendar months regardless of how many days in those months. Eg 4th Feb to 4th April. (Not all months have 30 days).
Steve **********
@Ste***
good point. Mine was 13 Jan to 13 Mar even though only 28 days in Feb. Good catch. 👍🏻👍🏻
Steve **********
what he said^^. Must be in the account for 60 days prior to application.
