My hudbanf and I have booked flights to Thailand December to February 60 days ,but I'm struggling to identify and source the correct visa application, even on the official Thai embassy, does anyone have a link? Even AI states we can stay for 60 days on tourist visa but we understood that this was reduced to 30 days.
Answer summary
The tourist visa for Thailand currently remains valid for 60 days, with the possibility of a 30-day extension after that. There is no official confirmation that the tourist visa duration will change to 30 days, though there has been discussion about the potential reduction of visa exempt entries. Travelers can apply for the Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) which entitles them to 60 days in Thailand, and can later extend this for another 30 days for a fee. It is advised to check the official embassy website for accurate information and guidance on visa applications.

You are confusing chatter about visa exempt entry with changes to a TR tourist visa. The TR tourist visa is unchanged at 60 days initial approval. There is talk that the 60 day visa exempt entry will be reduced to 30 days. These are two different ways to gain approval to enter Thailand.

Since Dec is months away, recommend the safe method, book flight return on the 29th day with changing allow. If there is no changes in the regulations when you enter Thailand, just amend everything to 59 days

Not yet, still 60 days visa exempt

This is the problem when people (local media included) refuse to use the correct terminology.

Stephen Hyvart Don't act smart, terminology doesn't change the facts; some people are not as knowledgeable as you.

Richard Safran im not being smart. But, because people use the wring terminology, people dont even understand what they are asking. This OP question is the perfect example πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ The facts are, the OP thinks the actual tourist visa is 30 days. So, I'd argue that terminology does indeed change the facts. Whether you agree or not, is up to you πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Sue Heimchen AI is very retarded, but too many people rely on it, but honestly nobody should trust the first paragraph it spits out.

Still 60 days at the moment. The Visa you require is a Tourist Visa and I suggest that you apply in November. You require to download and send a copy of your passport, the flight booking, proof of current address, confirmation of Thai address where you will be staying and proof of sufficient funds to cover your trip. The form is self explanatory, and you have to answer questions like the purpose of your visit etc.

The tourist visa has always remained at 60 days. If eligible, people from some countries arrive without a visa. Those travelers receive a fee-free visa exempt stamp that allows 30 or 60 days for the initial stay. The length of stay for visa exempt can change so you may play it safe and apply for the regular tourist visa on your country's Thai consulate website. That would get you 60 days with an option to renew for another 30.

Stephen Lodewick are you able to answer his question about getting a flight booked and pay for?

Can you apply for an setv and book a 90-day return ticket hoping to get 30 day extension.

Even if reduced by then to 30 days you can extend to 60 at the local IO

Rok Ziherl They may want to sort there length of stay out before they leave as they would have exit dates that they need to fly out on there purchased airline tickets.

If it changes back to 30 - enter on the visa exempt for 30 days and extend for another 30.

SETV (Single Entry Tourist Visa) is for 60 days in the Kingdom, and this can be extended for another 30 days for 1,900 baht.

You can stay 60 days visa free. The reduction to 30 days hasn't happen yet and there have been no announcements as to when it will change

Visa exemption is still 60 days. If it changes you could apply for a single entry tourist visa. You will need onward travel within 60 days to satisfy boarding with your airline and Thai Immigration

Steve Greir What I’m puzzled by is that the rule of thumb is a 60 day tourist visa that can be extended by 30 days.

So can u you book a return flight departing 90 days after arrival or do you need initially show a departure date of 60 days (maybe with a flexible ticket)??
Steve *******
Steve *******
Nigel Matthews The 30 days extention of stay has to be applied for and is only issued at the discretion of your local Immigration Office. Although it's quite rare people are refused the extention. It's definitely not a given! You can book a return flight for 90 days but you'll also need to book some form of onward travel within 60 days.

You ask about "correct visa". On embassy website you can apply for tourist visa of 60 days. AI is often wrong so just use official page.

Lynnette Munoz it depends how you ask AI. if she asked how long she can stay with tourist visa then AI answers correctly πŸ˜‰

Sue Heimchen no idea why ask AI when the info is on the official Thai govt page. AI is often misleading people about other aspects of entry requirements.

What passport? You may not need a visa and could enter exempt for 60 days.

Now yes but December is still far. It could be changed by then.

PeacefulSeahorse979 the 60 day visa wont. The exempt entry may be 30 and can be extended by 30 days makes 60.

Tourist Visas have always been and still will be 60 days.

Visa Exemptions have been confirmed to go back to 30 days, but there is no change yet.

There is no change to the tourist visa which remains at 60 days. The proposed change only affects visa exempt entries but hasn't come into effect yet
