I understand that they have changed the rules for 60 day stay to 30 days without cost of a visa. I want to travel to Thailand for 60 days. Is there any way to pay for 60 day visa?
Answer summary
Recently, there has been confusion surrounding the change in regulations concerning tourist visas for Thailand. While there were discussions about reducing the 60-day visa exemption to 30 days without cost, as of now, the law has not officially changed. Those planning to travel for 60 days can still apply for a 60-day tourist visa online for a fee, which remains valid. It is advised to check official sources, such as the Thai embassy's website, for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Slightly off topic but the hotel association of Thailand has now asked the Government to revoke the intended drop to 30 days ( or not implement it) based on every other room being empty in Thailand hotels

Have been following their conversation for couple weeks and am wondering if this why we are still awaiting publication in the Gazette

If it changes to 30 - get that on arrival and extend for another 30 at Immigration Office or apply for a 60 day setv

Why you don't check the official visa website or the website of the local Thai embassy of your country.

The information you're asking is written down.

This forum is called Thailand Travel Advice. Its going to be the first port of call for many people.

Marcus Baker The official government sites should be the first.

Then ask here to dumb it down, as it may be confusing for some.

but, FaKeBooK should never be the first port of call.

Even when FaKeBook has issues, most folk go elsewhere for help.

I would normally, but it seems that this group is always up to date with what's going on. Sometimes the government sites are slow to act.

Following on from this question…is it normal for them to take this long to put their decision onto the royal gazette? I thought when the decision was made it would go through pretty quickly. Or might there be another change of heart?

Lorraine Hof Its possible the tourist industry have lodged complaints about the proposed change. Edit: Oddly, I just scrolled down my feed and a post says the Hotels Association are demanding 60 day exempt entries are retained - apparently many hotels are only running at 50% occupancy.

Lorraine Hof Just guessing that there is a combination. Needs royal approval and because of a recent death in the family they might have more pressing things to do. And probably also getting "cold feet"... We will se IF it happens and if so WHEN..

The law has not changed yet. It won’t take effect until 15 days after it has been published in Royal Gazette. It has not been published yet and no one knows when it will be. You can apply online for a tourist single entry visa that is good for a 60 day stay.

Nothing has changed as of now. It's still 60 days visa exempt if you have a qualifying passport. If you don't want to worry about when it will change and possibly interrupt your plans, you can apply for a 60 day tourist visa online.

as long as you're not in Thailand you can apply through the Thai embassy wherever you are. Very few Thai embassies restrict visa applications to residents of the host country.
