What should I do about my visa situation for a 44-day trip to Thailand given the changes in visa rules?

Hi.

I booked a 44-day trip in Thailand from the 11th of January until the 24th of February because I thought that the extended 45 day visa free travel from England was still in effect. I now realize this is not the case. Do I need to get a flight into and/or out of Vietnam or Cambodia or is there another way of making sure I do not run foul of immigration on my entry or even worse get turned away by air China at Heathrow on my way out?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user mistakenly planned a trip to Thailand based on the assumption that the 45-day visa-free travel for citizens from England was still in effect. The conversation reveals the best course of action is to obtain a tourist e-visa before traveling, which grants 60 days upon arrival. Participants emphasize that this option avoids potential complications with immigration and meets travel requirements. Alternatives like leaving for neighboring countries (Vietnam or Cambodia) to reset visa limits are discussed, but the tourist visa is recommended as the most straightforward solution.

Gooday. I just need to know if you have a 30 day tourist visa . Can you extend it twice at immigration office and pay the 1900bht every time you go. M

I'm in thailand now. I'm going for extension on the 14 of December and then I was thinking of going to Laos in January cos my ticket out of thailand back to South Africa is 7th February . But now I saw on website that Laos does not accept South Africans at the moment. Is it true.thats why I want to know if I can go back to immigration for another ext of 30 days.please advise.

Just get exit flight before the 30 day period of non exempt. Then blow out, its only £40

Get a tourist visa before you go.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visaexcempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

thaievisa.go.th

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

No need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

The 45 day visa excempt was all the time supposed to be temporary until

2023, and was announced like that.

Just get a tourist e-visa before you travel. That way you'll get 60 days when you arrive and won't have to worry about anything while you're in Thailand. Though the 45 days ended a long time ago, so not sure how you thought it was still active.

depends on the embassy you'll be applying through. They're all different.
