Hi all. I’m a bit confused by the new laws. Arrived on a tourist visa July 20th (waiting to process a retirement visa in a few months), but does the stamp in my passport showing Sep 17 mean I have until Sep 17th without having to apply for a 30 day extension around August 19th? Or does this mean I’m good for the 60 days but still need to apply for a 30 day extension for a total of 60 days?
Thank you for any help! ✨🪷✨

Nah you are good until 17th September then either get a 30 day extension or leave the country and return.
watch your terminology! A visa-on-arrival must be bought at the airport for 2000 Baht, and allows only 15 days of stay. A visa-exempt entry (at the moment still active) gets you stamped in for a stay permit of 60 days. A single entry tourist visa gets you stamped in for a 60-days stay permit. Any single entry Thai e-visa will expire and become invalid when you enter. You then are in Thailand on a stay permit, not on a visa.
It always baffle me when someone make a post... get everything wrong, and then get upset at people for being pedantic. Knowing proper wording would help you avoid making such post to begin with. You don't know what was stamped into your passport because you don't know what you were qualifying for. If you knew what you had received (the pedantic part), you would know that your visa exempt expire on September 17, of which you can extend for 30 day until mid-October. Being humble will get you a long way.
Graham Seal ..her original post confused me, just said arriving and then going to change to retirement visa, then says lived here over 5 years...that's when I decided not to get involved in this one😅😅😅
Deane Fisher not really or I wouldn’t be here asking. When you’ve read mixed messages it seems pretty reasonable to ask in this group of oracles to be sure 👍
I didn't say anything about not questioning it if you think it's for not enough time? But if they give extra time to you, you're good to go and you don't have to worry. ✌🏼
Robert Nman hm not always the case. I was mistakenly stamped for 60 days instead of 90 days during arrival under a Non B. Got advise from my agent, went to airport and the immigration gave me 90.
a Visa on arrival give you 15 days in Thailand and cost 2000 baht, I really don't belive you are in that category but got a visa exemption stamp that is free
If your terminology is wrong how can people help you? They don’t know your correct status! Before you ask questions it makes sense to give accurate information.
hoping you've already got a bank account open, otherwise you'll either be paying an agent through the nose, or leaving and coming back on whatever the right visa is.
There are no news laws. You did not arrive on a tourist visa. A visa is something you apply for and pay for. You arrived visa exempt and received a 60 day entry stamp because visa exempt is still 60 days. It says UNTIL because that's when you are allowed to stay until. If you need additional time you can apply for a single 30 day extension.
Jordan 77 do you know the difference between a visa and a stay permit? Let's check. Tell us the difference. If you can't explain it, you have no place in this group, then get lost
Jordan 77 you have no place being in this group if all you do is attack people being helpful. Definitions are important when helping people to understand things like this. How pathetic are you?
