Is there any change to reporting back after returning from overseas? At one time we had up to 2 weeks to show up to get our TM 30 stamped. I don't know if it's the same now.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to report your arrival in Thailand using the TM30 form has changed recently. Currently, you have to report within 24 hours of arrival, which is being strictly enforced by immigration offices in Chiang Mai and potentially elsewhere. Previously, there may have been more leniency, with some offices allowing a timeframe of up to 2 weeks to file the report. Travelers are advised to go directly to the immigration office with their passport and necessary documents (such as the TM6 and TM30 acknowledgment slip) as soon as possible after arrival to avoid fines.

Another recent post replied to by Tod Daniels : June Unland ...No matter what the law says actually the person that holds the passport gets fined at Chiang Mai immigration's for failure to file or update the TM.30.

From recent posting on Chiang Mai...David Broadfoot it's 800baht down here in Bangkok :/ I also read reports (of places other than Chiang Mai and Jomtien where it IS 1600baht) that it's 800 as well.
I paid 800 self filing yesterday (and I entered the country on the 19th of Oct :O so I was filing a little past the 24 hour deadline :P )

I ask because up until a couple of months ago you had up to 2 weeks. I actually came in 8 days later on one occasion.

you never really had 2 weeks to file a TM.30, that was what your immigration office was doing, but it wasn't what was written into the law
you have 24 hours from arrival to report TM30. It appears Chiang Mai is enforcing it from recent reports.

24 hours.

By 1600hrs of the next calendar day of your arrival. If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, just head there directly with your passport, TM6 and TM30 acknowledgement slip to save you another trip back there (unless you live/work nearby, of course).
