Hi, I live Lamphun and I have lived here for 3 years and am married to a Thai, I have just seen that they are cracking down on the TM30, meaning every time I go to Chiang Mai for one or two nights I must report my return home within 24 hours or get fined 1600, is this correct and is there an online way in which to report.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the TM30 reporting requirements in Thailand, specifically after staying overnight in Chiang Mai. It has been noted that there are penalties for not reporting, but the specifics about the requirement after short trips are somewhat unclear based on personal experiences shared. Several comments provide resources and websites for reporting TM30 online, with discussions about whether personal applicators can use these services and how strict enforcement is.

I’ve been down to report 3 times after returning to the country after the second time which I only needed a copy of my passport she told me I don’t have to report unless I change my address,on that it is completely up to whoever you go in front of that day but I don’t believe you have to report unless you leave the country

I understand that. I am not retired to Thailand yet. But when we are there we stay mostly with friends or family all around Thailand.

If you have no reason to visit the immigration office (extension, re-entry permit, 90 day report, residence certificate) there's no reason to ever go file a TM.30 and they will have no idea that you didn't do it.

I’m curious how immigration would even know if you took a drive of about an hour to Chiang Mai and stayed a few days.

That was my understanding also but you hear so many things about immigration. Me I prefer to do all correctly. We plan on living out the rest of our lives there.

The way it really works is you're ONLY supposed to be filing a TM.30 when you return from out of the country. When you're traveling inside the country you don't need to re-file it when you get back home.
