COVID medical insurance (on a tourist visa): 90 days minimum coverage, or just enough to cover your stay? I've seen both from government sources.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The minimum coverage for COVID medical insurance on a tourist visa in Thailand appears to depend on the duration of the visa itself. Some sources indicate that insurance should cover the entire length of stay, while others suggest that a minimum of 90 days is required. One user reported purchasing a 60-day insurance policy that covered just their stay, and another recommended a 90-day policy for broader coverage. Overall, it is advisable to choose insurance that matches the duration of your visa.
yes, as immigration does not know how long you are staying. They have agreed to let you stay 90 days. Plane flights are easily changed.

I used luma and purchased 90 days for 8000thb. Starts when you land in Thailand. No waiting period and covers you if you test positive and have no symptoms.
if you plan to stay for 90 days you’ll need 90 days of coverage (plus the peace of mind as well) luma does sell a 60 day policy that is a bit cheaper.

I have a tourist visa 60 days and I only got 60 day coverage. It actually begins 1 day before I enter thailand so I only have coverage for 59 out of my 60 day stay and it was approved. Of course I am not actually staying 60 days.
