Greetings from Krabi: if I go back to United States from Thailand with a re-entry permit related to my non--O retirement extension of stay, how long of a covid-19 insurance plan would I need to show? Would it need to go all the way to the time that my non-O extension requires? I have excellent health insurance but it probably won't be accepted by the Thai government, so the shortest covid-19 policy specific to Thailand that I could use, the cheaper it will be for me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When returning to the United States from Thailand with a NON-O retirement extension of stay and a re-entry permit, the COVID-19 insurance plan must cover your entire stay in Thailand. Your entry into Thailand will be stamped for the duration of the insurance validity, so it's important to ensure the policy lasts at least as long as your existing visa extension.

It needs to cover your stay in Thailand. You'll only be stamped in for as long as your insurance is valid, regardless of your re-entry permit.

so if you are married here and live here you need a life long covid insurance?? Surely it must be related to your non immigrant visa expiry date

I'm retired in Thailand, so it has to go until it's time to extend my stay on the non-O retirement visa?
