TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a one-year extension on a Non-O visa in Thailand, you can expect to pay a fee of 1,900 baht directly at the immigration office. If you need a re-entry permit, it costs 1,000 baht for a single entry and 3,800 baht for multiple entries. It's advisable to make an online appointment to avoid long waiting times. Note that while initially obtaining a Non-O visa might require proof of funds (800,000 baht in a Thai bank account), this may not be necessary for extensions. Always have the appropriate documentation ready to ensure a smooth process.

Went like a dream In out and passport stamped within 30mins No bank book or anything required as had previously seen evidence of resistance and funds when first enquired
You’ll also need one really important thing and that’s 800k seasoned in a Thai bank in your name should show it was a FTT transfer of an income verification letter if your embassy issues them US,UK and Australia doesn’t anymore
If you live in Bangkok, make an appointment online early morning tomorrow, the next availability is another 30 day from tomorrow. Without appointment, you would be there from dawn til dusk!
If you are at the immigration and got your extension then consider to get a re-entry permit while are still there. If needed in this extension period. Cost you maybe less then 1 hour in time and 1000B for a single entry or 3800B for a miltiple re-entry permit.
I have seen it as well. They claimed it was for "air conditioning" for the office and other nonsense. Still illegal and going directly into their pockets. You have to choose your battles in Thailand though.
Usually you'll have to shell out a few baht extra if you need copies made on site or you forgot to bring your passport sized photo etc, but shouldn't really be paying much more.
