I just went for this extension yesterday, I came back into Thailand 5th Jan on visa 30 day free. Immigration yesterday told me I will need another 30 day visa free extension, then once I have 15 days left on it, so in two weeks, I go back and they will give me a 60 day ext to visit Thai wife. Then once I have 15 days left on that I can get the ext for 1 year based on marriage. I was told I have to keep my 400k in the bank now for the next 90 days just to make sure there are no problems

You need to have 15 days or more left on your current entry visa apparently to get the ext based on marriage which I didn't know so I have to do it this way

you can apply for an extension on the very last day on your current stamp. No requirement of the minimum days remaining for application for an extension. (Better not wait until the last minute though it’s not mandatory)

I was expecting to be able to get it yesterday but my immigration office said no unfortunately. I have to get another 30 day then 60 day to visit thai wife and then I can get the 1 year extension. I'm aware of what the rules are but as you know, this is Thailand and every immigration office does things differently. I'm not that bothered, I'm still getting it I just have to go about it this way and it'll cost me 1900thb more for the extra extension which is nothing I'm the grand scheme of things 🤷

You have to keep your funds in a Thai bank account for a certain period for you to apply for an extension based on being married to a Thai national. It doesn't mean you have to have more than xx days left with your stamp.

I know I was lead to believe that you just needed to show the 400k to apply for it and that was when the 2 months seasoning clock starts. I though you got an initial 90 days then when you go back and your money is seasoned they then give you the 1 year extension. I only put the 400k in a couple of weeks ago so thats why I'm now having tk do it this way

Anthony, can you please make your own post please? This has nothing to do with the poster's question. Thank you.

What's the 30 day extension of stay you're getting?

I also thinking of getting a 60 days extension stay to have a sufficient month (at least 2 month)for my 400k in bank so that I can apply one year extension for next time .

>I also thinking of getting a 60 days extension stay to have a sufficient month

I *DOUBT* you can go from a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai wife to a one year extension of stay based on retirement. You *CAN* be able to go from a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai wife to a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national.

can apply for family visit extension one time of 60 days ..

That will give you time to season the funds

@Andrew ****
no. The retirement is for the money to be seasoned for two months for a one year extension of stay based on marriage.

There is no seasoning requirements for a one year extension of stay based on raising half Thai children though, so that might be an option
