What are the options to extend a single-entry non-immigrant O visa in Thailand?

I've just received a single-entry non-imm-O visa, based on pension income, which I plan to use to visit for 90 days. I then plan to return to UK and possibly obtain a multi-entry non-imm-O visa for next year. However, I read here that it may be possible to extend the single-entry visa for a year whilst still in Thailand. What are the options?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a single-entry non-immigrant O visa based on pension income, valid for 90 days. They inquire about extending it while in Thailand. The response outlines that an extension is possible through local immigration offices, requiring either proof of financial stability or a letter from one's consulate indicating a monthly income. The yearly extension fee is 1900 baht, and a re-entry permit may also be necessary depending on future travel plans.

When you have 30 days or less (45 days or less in Chiang Mai or Bangkok) you would go to the immigration office and meet the financial requirements of either banking 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name for 60 days prior to your application OR getting a letter from your consulate here stating you get 65k baht a month in income from abroad.

The yearly extension costs 1900baht. Then you would need a re-entry permit which is 1000baht for a single use one or 3800baht for a multiple use one

Nope, in order to meet the financial requirements you must have the money in an account in your name only.

IF you use a joint account you would need TWICE the amount required (if it's for retirement you'd need 1.6 million baht, and if its for marriage you'd need 800K baht) That's because the immigration office looks at the balance in your joint account as only half yours.

nope, 90 day Non-O visas cannot be extended by 30 days :/ You can get a yearly extension or a 60 day visit thai family extension (if you're married to a thai or are the parent of half thai kids). Those are the only two choices

One final point, if on a 90 day, non-imm-O single, or multi-entry, is there any possibility to extend by 30 days each time?

90 days in/out would suit me fine. I just wanted to move away from the frequent tourist visas as they seem to be getting problematic.

remember on the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa you have to exit and re-enter the country every 90 days to get another 90 day stamp. That's how that visa works.

The only visa that would let you come in and get stamped in for a year would be the Non-Immigrant Type O-A (Long Stay) visa from the thai consulate in your country before you come here. It requires a police background check and a medical certificate AND proof of funds (but you can use the money in your bank account in your country to meet it).

OK. Thanks, Tod. I think it might be easier to pick up a multi-entry in UK, as I only have to show pension statements and proof of 20k baht equivalent in my UK bank.
