I am looking at moving to Chiang Mai with my 13yr old son for us both to study Thai for 12mths with a language school that looks after the Ed Visa for you. I have found TSL to be highly recommended but they don't do the visa for kids under 15. Any recommendations on other schools that do or what can be done for a visa for him for 12mths? We're Aussies...if that makes a difference. Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on visa options for moving to Chiang Mai with their 13-year-old son for a year of language study. They mention challenges with securing an ED visa for their son due to age restrictions at recommended schools like TSL. Responses suggest options such as obtaining a dependent visa for the son based on the parent's ED visa, and some schools potentially offering assistance with visa processing.

I think Andrew, is saying you get an ED and then your child gets a Non-O visa based on being with you here. I don't know IF it will work. Usually it works the other way around, the child gets an ED visa and the parent gets a Non-O based on taking care of them and by showing the requisite 500Kbaht in a thai bank account for 30 days before you apply.

You get an ed visa and he gets a dependent visa. Most schools will process the dependent visa for you for half to less than half the course fee including ed Visa. Has you contacted the school you were thinking about you should have been told this as it is pretty standard. If you were not, you might want to start contacting other schools

How about putting him in a proper school ?
