TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faced a denial for an Education Visa in Phnom Penh due to having too many tourist visas. They seek advice on alternative ways to enter Thailand. Suggestions include considering a border run for a visa-exempt entry or potentially getting a new passport to reapply for a visa at a different consulate, as they may be hindered by a 'void' stamp in their passport.

And as the OP finds her way back into Thailand...Good Luck

with a VOID sticker can not get ED visa at any other Consulate.

Non B or Non O would be the only option at the moment.

not with her history. Savannakhet a NO for sure. Vientiane ?? Might not due to back to back.

I agree with other posters it is FAR safer for you to enter my land if you haven't gotten TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land yet this year.

You will have no problem entering with a void visa in your passport. The people at passport control see them all the time. Face it you're not the first foreigner to be here a while and then decide to get an ED visa and fail getting it. :O

I'd say have proof of funds, proof of onward travel (just in case you're asked) and stamp in at a land border.

Even Poi Pet shouldn't be a problem entering the country because you're not a border bouncer, you've been IN Cambodia a few days and are just re-entering thailand.

Just curious about who told you to try to apply at the thai consulate in Phnom Penh? That is not known at all as a user friendly thai consulate.

If your paperwork is addressed to the thai consulate in Phnom Penh you're done and need to get NEW paperwork from your school before you go try to get an ED visa from another consulate

IF the paperwork is NOT addressed to a specific consulate you can go to Vientiane Lao (they require you book an appointment) and try to get the ED visa from that consulate.

OR

IF you haven't used your TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land so far this year you could enter thailand, get a 30 day visa exempt and make plans to go to a different thai consulate to try for the ED visa

They stamped Void to the visa and marked on blue "too many tourist visas"

I would go to Laos and cross from there on a visa exempt or try to get a visa in Savannakhet or Vientiane. Phnom Penh has been harder than others from my experience, and Poi Pet is up to IOs own rules, (like u can not fly into Siem Reap and go back by border I was told last time, got away with a warning), but surely not the border of choice seeing your situation, whish u best of luck...

going to Laos to cross border into Thailand a good idea.

However forget trying to get another visa of any kind in Laos with that stamp and remarks in her passport.

Do NOT use the Poi Pet border crossing, they are notoriously difficult IO/crooks.

I would suggest getting a new passport and trying again, maybe at a different consulate. You probably wont get another visa in the region with the void stamp in your passport.

Have you done a border run this year 2020? By crossing into Thailand.. On the ground, not by air, without a visa ...?
Bart **************
There's probably no harm in trying but... with that "too many tourist visas" stamp I wouldn't give you any chance of crossing a border successfully, especially if it's a land border.

Thanks a lot for your answers

I will try the border by land.

Then if you can get to a land border and enter Thailand visa exempt entry you will be stamped in for 30 days.

An extension of added 30 days can be obtained at Thai Immigration for 1,900 Thai baht.

You can repeat this a second time by doing a border run...getting 30 days plus the added 30 dsys extension.

After that...most likely time to return to Portugal... Or view options at that time.

Which are limited with your current passport (hint).

Good luck...

As its nighttime in Thailand, others probably will reply in the morning.

Sorry you were denied at Phnom Phen. Had you asked us, we would have not suggested going there for an Ed Visa.

But that's over and done now...

Now to pick the best border crossing to reenter Thailand with little hassle.

Good night...chat again soon.

No. Not in 2020.

Did the Thai Consulate mark or stamp anything inside your passport when they denied your Ed Visa ?

Did your school recommend you go to Phnom Phen to apply for the Ed Visa?

Where are you now ? In Cambodia?

That is totally against what I would expect. Not much experience myself, but in Dutch groups all the troubles I've read about pretty much concern just Poi Pet and Malaysian borders. No one ever complained about BKK immigrations. Those are usually described as not caring about pretty much anything.

With air travel, I'd expect there would be a larger barrier for officers to refuse because it has much more serious consequences. The airline is committed to take you back as fast as possible. If they are fully booked, they'd have to delay other passengers, maybe for a full day. They won't be happy about that. I can imagine officers aren't taking that easily, and only refuse if it's a clear case. If you refuse someone at land border they can just walk back and take a bus to city where they can buy a proper visa. Should be lots easier.

Also: what kind of travelers generally show up at borders? At Suv you'll see mostly regular tourists and business travelers, who have things sorted out. The officers there should be used to let people pass without issues. The bouncers and people pushing their stay to the max will show up at land borders more often. I'd expect those officers to be used to having a bit of a closer look at people's passports. And indeed that's how, at least amongst Dutch, things seem to work.

your unlikely to get a visa anywhere in the region with that stamped in your passport.

What is your nationality?

Where do you work?

You have been in Thailand since middle of 2019 with two young children according to your prior post.

Are you married to a Thai?

Or married to someone who is working legally in Thailand?
