What are some recommended programs for enrolling in soft power activities to support my Thailand DTV visa application?

Hello everyone, I need some advice regarding my Thailand DTV visa application.

I’m recently applied for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). However, I’ve run into an issue. The Thai visa officer informed me that my current work details don’t qualify for this type of visa, and they recommended that I provide proof of enrollment in a "soft power activity" to support my application.🤗🤗😘

Has anyone faced a similar situation, or can anyone recommend any programs, such as Thai culture or language courses, Muay Thai, or cooking classes, that would allow me to enroll and provide proof of registration? Any recommendations for courses that offer flexible cancellation or refunds would be especially helpful.

Thank you so much for any guidance you can provide!

Hey! Just reading this and I'm needing some similar help. Could I apply for DTV visa as a freelancer doing either Tuina / cupping / acupuncture OR movement work/dance... ? If not, if I applied for a Spouse visa, could I partake in courses? And would I need to proof different set of funds, even though my husband would proove the amount and I'd be piggybacking of him as a Spouse?

For freelance work that can request DTV, you must use documents showing work that generates income for you. and a website or evidence showing that you earned income while you were in Thailand.

I will recommend for buying activities class its easier.

Hi I have got a friend who owns Muay thai gym and he can issue the letter for Muay Thai under soft power activity to support your DTV , I can send you more info about him in DM.

Does anyone know if movement work / or Tuina / cupping / masage work would be possible in thailand as freelance work? If not, if I applied for a Spouse visa of a remote worker DTV holder, could I partake in courses?
Andi ***********
@Tamara *****
There is a DTV option for Thai culture related courses such as Muay Thai, Cooking. The freelancer option for the DTV option is remote work only. You could not do acupuncture, cupping etc on the DTV. Depends on the embassy you apply from if you need your own proof of funds. Embassies differ in their approval, contact the embassy you will apply from beforehand to find out what they accept.

Refund in Thailand, you're dreaming.
Paul *******
What job is it that you do that doesn't qualify? I'd think anything where you spend most of your time online, on the phone should qualify.
John **********
You will need to book and pay for an activity for the soft power visa. That won't be refunded to you

Please explain more. Where did you apply and what kind of work do you do, that they didn't approve your application for the remote work category?

Our foundation is offering "soft power" courses and seminars, but we're not sure if they meet the DTV criteria. We will be testing this over the next few months (we advised our applicants not to apply for an evisa because the much higher fee, around ฿15K not ฿10K, is NOT refundable if not eligible). At least in Laos or Vietnam, the consulate will not take your fee until after all the documents have been checked and found to be in order).

DM me if you're interested in joining us from around Oct/Nov onwards. We require a commitment of about one day per week to attend or run a course or workshop. And we provide the opportunity to use our facilities for your freelancing.

Also note: we're based in Chiang Mai. You need to be too (but not necessarily all year round).

@Gary ******
you teach Thai? People have been refused and adviced to apply for ED-visa 🤷‍♂️
Gary *******
@Rene *****
Yes, that's why I'm looking for anecdotal information. I've recently found one person who applied for a DTV to learn Thai at language school, and it was granted by the Thai consulate in London. Go figure!

@Gary ******
This sounds great but I would be careful about saying that you can make a freelance income. The individual on a DTV cannot work in Thailand and make money from Thai sources. Im assuming they wouldn't be making money from your facilities from a Thai company? If its making money under their own name they would need to make sure that the income is not coming from Thailand.

Which country did u run for this visa

I think ,You need “proof of Company Letter “ your job position is fully Remote WFH .
Paul *******
@Hein ****
Surely a position which is remote but may require occasional travel would qualify too? As long as you generally work remotely it should be fine.
ပေါ်လစ်တစ်ကယ် ************************************
Yes, I think so

Before DTV they had ED visa's so people who pay a school to enroll on a course so people could get a visa and not attend. So imm started making checks, people's visa's where cancelled and they were given 2 days' notice to leave. If you are planning to do the same for 5 years, good luck.
John ********
@Graham ******
Apparently you initially only have to sign up for anything under Soft power for a period of six months.

plus if going Thai Language route I can see language checks like the ED Visa upon re-entry.

if they go to Muay Thai route, maybe the imm officer challenges them to a few rounds, that would be interesting.

, I mean about how they check to make sure you paid attention and went to your cooking classes. Do you have to make a dish for them?
Graham *******

Yes, the imm officer invites you around to his house to cook for his granny. If its crap, your the main course the day after.

@Otik ****
For family reasons I need to travel often to and from the states. They said I could do one week at a time for as long as I needed. In other words, no need to do all the weeks right in a row. Plus.... I don't think you can fail. It's cooking, you eat what you cook. Lol
