What alternative options can I present for proof of activity when applying for the DTV visa in Thailand as an amateur cyclist?

*have everything for the DTV except "Proof of confirmation to attend the activity or letter of appointment from hospital/medical center"*

*I am going to Thailand and have selected the "SOFT POWER" reason for the DTV and I am going to exercise and train as im a full time amateur cyclist (unemployed but put freelancer with under 20k income since some random sponsorship deal etc happens in usa) have attached proof of way more than adequate funds in a. bank account so I should be good to go but the problem is there is no official cycling races or things I can show proof of there.*

*It says a music festival is an option but I have no interest in that, should I just buy a 3000baht ticket for a festival I have no interest in to get the visa? seems stupid but....*

*please advise and thanks in advance!*

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is seeking advice on how to fulfill the requirement of providing proof of participation in an activity for a Thai DTV visa application, specifically citing their challenge of being a full-time amateur cyclist with no official races in Thailand. Comments suggest that the visa process may require approval or registration for a specific event or activity, leading to ideas like enrolling in alternative activities (Muay Thai or cooking classes) or even suggesting creating faux medical appointments. Overall, there is a sense of humor about the lengths applicants go to secure this visa.

There are reports of people getting this visa based on a doctor's appointment. Get an appointment at a hospital for something small, it will probably work.

Yea, after cycling so much, probably qualify for a testicular exam ...

Make a faux medical appointment and cancel afterwards?

I do want to get a sports specific doctor on board so I can get bloodwork done every month, if they are interested in this type of ultra low key stuff then why are they even bothering to ask for it??

@Eric ******
I mean it doesn't really matter to get the Visa right, just get it first and then sort out other stuff when you're in Thailand

Try contacting the Thai Cycling Association via their website

I am interested in music

The embassy guys must be pissing themselves

Can you not sign up for muay Thai - you might even enjoy going for a different fitness hobby rather than for the sport itself? You will have to attend classes.. or cooking - I absolutely loved cooking classes in Thailand - if your're going to live there be nice to cook their cuisine and learn about their ingredients.. 🤷🏼‍♀️

don’t want to hurt myself or have energy for literally anything after my training 6days a week

this is just educated guess but why not sign up for the masters

Of Chiang bike race on October then perhaps a running race in January. Yes it’s going to cost money but even a ED visa is around 55k a year.

Is Thailand a good place for cycle training? Very dangerous roads etc

@Andy *********
perfectly safe. I've ridden

miles a year here for the past 16 years. The only danger has been from fellow cyclists including one english guy who caused a serious crash and refused to take responsibility. Stand up Ben Milson.

None of those are races. those are like organized group rides, anything that says everyone welcome etc etc and no sanctioning body like the UCI etc isnt a real race. nobody's going to believe thats a legitimate reason to get the visa for some local tiny event.
Andy **********
@Eric ******
Predictably people are chipping in saying "perfectly safe". Yeah, no one is going to believe you are coming to Thailand for 5 years to further a cycling career, because its not true. A report that's a few year old, but largely still correct, despite another poster trying to blame the English.

I was referring to the fact that Thai roads are the second most dangerous in the world. Taiwan is supposed to be better as a base for professional cyclists (you are paid to cycle so you are not amateur). Plus why are you saying there are no cycle races in Thailand?

You need approval from an educational institute or a booked activity in order to apply. What each embassy will require is different. You need to contact the embassy you are applying through and check what they will accept.

Many have said they require proof that you are registered for a 3 or 6 month activity, so I doubt a music festival will actually get a visa. Nor will doing training on your own as that is not a booked activity.

do you know what would be the cheapest thing that would surely qualify I can just book right now?
Brandon ************
@Eric ******
No, because each embassy has their own requirement. What one embassy might accept, another one won't. You need to ask YOUR embassy what they will accept, and then look for something based on that.
