Hello everyone,

My Visa ED non-immigrant (single) of 90days expires soon. I’m currently doing an internship of 6 months in Ko Samui, but I already know that I can’t extend or renew this type of Visa… what are my solutions to stay here 3 months (until 9 october when my internship finish) ??

Thank you in advance for your help🙏🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about options to extend their stay in Thailand beyond the expiration of their Non-ED visa while completing a 6-month internship. Comments suggest that extensions for Non-ED visas are typically not granted, and recommend traveling to a neighboring country to apply for a Single Entry Tourist Visa, allowing a 60-day stay with a possible 30-day extension for tourism.

Okay, I have never seen people who come here on Non-ED visas for internship EVER get an extension inside the country and I know probably 20-30 people who tried and were denied at the immigration office. Even people from real universities who had internship as part of their education couldn't do it.

I doubt you'd even be able to get documentation that would let you get a new 90 day ED visa from any of the thai consulates in the area based on interning but you can ask where you're interning and check the website of the thai consulate you're thinking of using to see

Personally I'd Just go to a thai consulate in another country and get a single entry tourist visa, come in get the 60 day stamp and take the 30 day extension, <- that's the 3 more months you're looking for.

Strange that you're enrolled in a 6 months internship and the school can only provide a 3 month stay, what is the reason why you can not extend?

Alternative is go to a neighbor country and apply for a Single Entry Tourist Visa which gives you 60 days on entry and can be extended once on basis of tourism with another 30 days

Thank you 🙏🏼 so for this option I need to go out of the country only 1 time for the next 3 months is that right?

you won't be able to complete your internship on a tourist visa. You need to extend your Ed visa. Talk to the educational institute that is sponsoring your internship

Yes, to apply for a tourist visa you need to go abroad and apply at an Thai Embassy.

Single Entry visa has nothing to do with the requirements of extending the period of stay you got on entry with this visa based on following an education or internship.

I talked already with them and they don’t know about the conditions … that’s why I searched for help here. I have internship contract until 9 october

you cannot extend an ED visa by yourself. You have to have documentation from your school or whoever.

Their must be a person at the place where you follow your internship that speaks Thai, let them call the Immigration Office and ask for the hand out with requirements.

The did manage to get all your documents together to apply for a Non Immigrant ED visa, it is not that hard.

It is not really about the school, I have a friend wich was in the same situation as me (same visa etc..) and when she went to immigration office they told her that we can’t extend because it’s « single » visa and not numerous
