What are my options for extending my stay in Thailand after my STV visa expires in December, and are there any related visa requirements?

Looking for some advice…

I’m currently on STV visa which I should be able to extend a couple of times until December. At that time I’m wondering what my options will be for making a new tourist visa either be leaving Thailand to neighbouring country or returning to the UK. I’d like to ask:

1. Is it looking likely that STV option will still be around in December?

2. Is there any issue with getting STV visas back to back? If so how many consecutive STVs would likely be granted?

3. Same question as number 3 except with the regular 60 day Tourist Visa. In case the STV won’t still be around in December or in case it’s not possible to chain STV visas in a row, would alternating them with normal Tourist Visas make it any more viable?

4. Is the Covid health insurance requirement for the normal Tourist Visa any lower than that of the STV? (100,000 USD)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on their options after their STV visa expires in December, including the likelihood of the STV option still being available, the feasibility of obtaining consecutive STV visas, and alternatives with normal tourist visas. They also inquire about the Covid-related health insurance requirements for standard tourist visas compared to the STV.

How about the question of how many Tourist Visas I’d be granted to chain back to back? Is there a generally accepted limit?

again..be prepared to answer the questions about why you stay in Thailand so long???

You are fishing for the answer...

Reality is that there's limited opportunity to live and work in Thailand if you are not age 50+...

Or Married to a Thai or Father of Thai child.

The Thai Elite Visa costs 600,000 Thai baht and gives you 5 years stay in Thailand.

Getting a English language teachers job is open if you have a Bachelor's degree.

Attending a Thai university and seeking a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree is also an option for several years study.

Visit your local Thai immigration office and ask for their suggestions.

We wish you good luck...

And suggest you ask your question on an expat forum where you live.

When you have a Visa you have chosen to seek... Feel free to ask here.

Unlikely that the STV Visa would be issued back to back . And ONLY can be obtained from your home country.

Once a year might be possible if they are continued beyond September 2022. The STV Visa designed to serve the snow bunny expats in cold winter country's.

Regardless of the insurance of any visa...if re-entered back to back with history of staying in Thailand long time as a tourist...

Be prepared to answer the question by Thai Immigration Officer upon arrival.

Why do you stay so long in Thailand?

If you qualify for the STV you probably qualify for the multiple entry tourist visa. But you have to do border runs and extensions. At least there’s no insurance requirement aside from Thailand pass.

1&2. STV program is currently set to end as of September 30th, 2022. There is no further official announcement about STV. And we don't do assumptions.

3. If you are only traveling as a genuine tourist, and want to stay more than 30 days visa-exempt entry stamp + 30 days tourism extension, your choices are getting a Tourist visa (60 days on entry + 30 days extension) or Thailand Elite.

4. There is no insurance requirement for getting Tourist Visa. There is an insurance requirement of 10,000 USD to get Thaipass and enter Thailand that would apply to every foreigner to enter Thailand.
