Hallo friends of Hua Hin, I came nearly 3 months ago to Thailand with a Ed Visa, valid for 3 month. Now I need a tourist visa, for as long as possible, because I want to open a Thai company and stay longer in Thailand. For the first I need a maximum time more.Has anyone a good advice for me? I hear about a 6 month tourist visa.... nonsense? Or can I get a tourist visa for at least 3 months? Where do I apply, what's better, Laos, or Malaysia? I hope to get a useful answer, thank you so far, greetings, Carsten

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquiring about transitioning from an Ed Visa to a tourist visa in Thailand seeks advice on obtaining an extended tourist visa to stay longer for business purposes. The conversation suggests that a single-entry tourist visa can be acquired from nearby Thai consulates in countries like Malaysia, Laos, or Cambodia, allowing a stay of 60 days, extendable by 30 days at an immigration office. It is noted that a six-month tourist visa can only be applied for from the home country.
Yangon is possible and a good place to get a visa but it's not any quicker or easier to get to. You can fly from Bangkok, DMK relatively cheaply- Nok, Air Asia, Lion Air all fly there. You can get a bus either but it's a LONG way, you would really have to visit Myanmar to understand just how slow the buses and trains run there, I've taken 12 hours to cover 150km. IF a direct bus exists it's 24 hours at least from Bangkok. But flying to Yangon is also perfectly possible, it's just not fast. You can also do a land bounce into Myanmar and back from Kanchanaburi province if they haven't changed the rules, without getting a visa (only 30 days, and only 2 allowed per year).
Go to the nearest Thai consulate (in Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, etc.) and get a single entry tourist visa. That gets you 60 days and can be extended 30 days more at any immigration office. Six-month multiple entry tourist visa can only be obtained in your home country.
