What are my options for extending my Non-O visa (family) in Thailand without marriage documentation?

Hi everyone,

I am currently staying in Thailand on a non immigrant O visa (family) 90 days one entry.

I would like to know what possibility do I have to extend it, I need one more month or at least 20 days.

I am not able to extend it as a family visa as I did not marry in Thailand.

Thank you all for your help in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non-O visa (family) in Thailand and is seeking options for extending their stay as they need at least 20 more days. They cannot extend under the family visa category due to not being married in Thailand. Community responses suggest that without marriage documents, extensions are unlikely within Thailand, and suggest either a border run to obtain a 30-day visa exempt entry or applying for a single-entry tourist visa at a nearby Thai consulate.

because of your nationality you can just 'border-bouce' <- go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country and stamp back into thailand to get a 30 day visa exempt entry OR you can go to a thai consulate in another country and buy a single entry tourist visa.

I'd say IF you haven't gotten any 30 day visa exempt entries yet this year, a border bounce would be the thing to do and would get you a 30 day entry stamp.

A visa run then? I never made it or had any extension done. Would I not have an issue at the airport when flying back to France or when making a new Visa later?

@Alex*****
with out the marriage documents you aren't going to get ANY extension inside the country OR even get a new visa from a thai consulate in a nearby country either. :/ :(

Depending on your nationality, your best bet would be to go to a thai consulate in a neighboring country and get a single entry tourist visa (that would get you stamped in for 60 days)

What country is your passport from?

I understand. Thanks for clarifying.

@Alex*****
, then as I said, you would NOT be able to get an extension from the immigration office or a new visa from a thai consulate in a nearby country based on marriage

France. I did make the original 90 days visa which I needed the original documents to get tho. I can have copies but no original they stayed in France.

No matter where you married, IF you're married to a thai you should be able to get an extension based on marriage. There is no rule that you have to have been married IN thailand.

You should be able to get the year extension (if you meet the requirements) OR you should be able to get a 60 day 'visit family' extension (this doesn't require proof of funds).

I would say go to the immigration office and see what the requirements are for a 60 day visit family extension based on marriage to a thai national.

That is probably the thing to do anyways. Thank you for your help.

But i would need proof of marriage with original documents I presume, I unfortunately don't have them.

First off there is no 30 day extension available on a Non-O visa.

ok, sadly :/ Thanks.

Is there any solution around this ?

is the 90 day non-O based on being married to a thai?
