Hi there group! Seeking advice from you.

On January ill be starting a course of 3 months in Thailand. The school adviced me to get the 2 month period visa and will be extending for the other month while being there. Got the 2 month visa they didnt mind me not having a flight out.

Now my question is, what would be the best way for me to be able to stay even more? Heard about a way of going out of the country for a couple of days, applying for a new visa and then coming back again? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is starting a 3-month course in Thailand and has a 2-month visa with plans to extend it. They seek advice on how to stay longer, mentioning the possibility of leaving the country briefly to apply for a new visa. Comments from the community suggest several options, including potential visa types, awareness of nationality-specific requirements, and considerations before opting for extensions.

Pay for a 60 day tourist visa or e visa from the embassy of which ever country you're in. Enter thailand then go to the nearest immigration at least 10 days before it expires for a 30 day extension, which costs 1900 thb. Not worth the hassle of an ed visa for a short course.

I have been here a number of years one various kinds of visas.

You can always get a tourist visa, well mostly always. Some other options

- Get a wife

- Get a kid

- Get rich

- Get a job

Something to be aware of, different nationalities have different visa options and different requirements for the same visa. So you will want to be care above 'what you heard'. It may be true but may not be true for you.

You can do a visa except which simple requires you leave the country then come back. You can bounce same day.

Your airline may not allow you to board unless you can show a flight out of Thailand within your 60 days of arrival.

@Paul ******
do you need to have a 60 day visa or could I enter with a standard 30 day with a ticket leaving after 60 days and then just apply for an extension after 30 days whilst in Thailand

60 day visa with a departure ticket within 60 days would work. If you come on a 30 day visa exempt stamp, your airline would be looking for a departure ticket witin those 30 days. You could always buy a fully refundable ticket and later cancel.

Not quite sure what you’re trying to accomplish here. “The school advised me”. Are you at a school to study or to work?
