Hi guys,

What if you already live in Thailand, what kind of address do you provide to apply for the visa?

Thank you

(I'm Belgian, but live in Thailand and don't have an address in Belgium)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the appropriate address to provide when applying for a visa while residing in Thailand. Commenters explain that one cannot apply for a DTV visa through the eVisa website if already in Thailand and must either return to Belgium or visit a Thai consulate in a nearby country. They suggest using the current hotel address for the application. It was noted that fellow expats often go through similar processes to obtain their visas.

So after all that back and forth, it seems like the O/P will indeed select a consulate nearby and go get the DTV visa like everyone else already in thailand is doing.

We wish them well in their endeavor

I want to thank

“Current address” hotel address at the application city worked for me. I don’t think most embassies care if you’re obviously there for a visa run.

I believe they talking about using the eVisa online website because they reference showing proof they are IN Belgium which is a requirement to use the eVisa website at the thai consulates in most countries that use it.

The nearby thai consulates want the address you're at where you're applying in their country and then your address here in thailand

Yeah you're right. I wouldn't dare doing that. We know for a fact that immigration and MFA's digital systems are improving year after year. They likely know entry/exits of every fingerprint owner.

I love all this. I cannot get a visa for here because I am here already so I must leave here and go there so I can apply there to come back here!

@Graham ******
well...yes. the idea is to attract incremental visitors, not make it easier for those here !

@Graham ******
Destination Thailand Visa is just like a real tourist visa, neither can be had INSIDE thailand, you get one before you wing your way here,

OR

if you're here you slog on over to a thai consulate nearby and get one then come back
Tod *********
You can't apply for the DTV using the eVisa website outside of your country anyway,

SO

if you're already here, you either go BACK to Belgium and apply

OR

you go to a thai consulate in a nearby country and apply (when you can use your address here on the application)

In HK, they ask you for your HK ID. If your are not a resident, you can't apply for a visa. It's what they told me a few months ago.

@Lucie ********
you could be right

Before (when it was a walk up consulate) they ask you to show you're legally allowed to be in Hong Kong. People use to have to copy that little card they gave as proof they could be IN hong kong to use the consulate there.

Dunno how it is now for the eVisa system,

Thanx for that update though (y)

I can apply online in HK

also for Embassy in Seoul - as short term visitor of South Korea you are allowed to apply via e-visa only for tourist visa. Any long term application incl DTV required alien registration card copy submission- means you should be legal resident there during whole process and for DTV they declare up to 4 weeks for approval…

the only thai consulate in S/E Asia that lets you apply online while you're not in the country is the thai consulate in Singapore.

They have a special online application portal,

You can be here in thailand, apply, upload your documents, wait for the visa to be approved and then you go there, turn in the documentation pay, get the visa stuck in and come back

@Tod ********
for DTV Thai Embassy Singapore accept only from long term residents, not short term visitors. This their reply on 23 July 2024

@Anna ***********
thank you for that (y) both of those

@Alexa **********
So pick a thai consulate you want to go to for the DTV, read the requirements on their website, their processing time, if you need an appt to get in the gate, get your documentation together, GO there and apply for the visa, pay, wait the processing time, pick up your passport with the visa in it and come back

That's what people who are IN thailand are doing to get a DTV nearby

as
@John *********
stated correctly (y)

IF you are physically IN Hong Kong you can apply because you have to show you're legally IN that country to get a visa from the thai consulate there.

no, I can apply online

One last time you only can apply online IF you are IN Hong Kong, you cannot use the eVisa system OUTSIDE the country you're applying for it in 🙁

Are you having a tough time understanding that, because you seem to not be catching on

You SAID you're IN Hong Kong when you input the data 🙁 You're not, you're in thailand, you can't use the eVisa system

no I mean I'll go to HK of course 🙂
Anna ************
@Alexa **********
for HK you should be legal resident of HK/Maccao (not a visitor who just physically present in HK) to apply via e-visa there…
Tod *********
@Alexa **********
that means you go to hong kong with your documentation, access the eVisa website, upload the requirements, show the address where you are in hong kong, your proof of legally being allowed to be there, then WAIT there for the eVisa to be approved, then print it and then come back

Why not just pick a nearby thai consulate you can walk in and apply for the visa, go there, apply, pay and pick your passport back up when it's done?
