TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses options for extending a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) in Thailand. The user is considering either applying for an extension while already in Thailand or doing a 1-day border hop to a neighboring country. Comments suggest that while the extension can be done easily with the proper documents (proof of funds and employment), it may take multiple visits to an immigration office. Others emphasize that border hopping could be cheaper and more straightforward, citing travel options like flying or taking a bus/train to nearby countries for a new 180-day visa.
The extension is easy. It's the same documents you used for your application with updated dates, plus proof of where you are staying.
An extension is faster and cheaper.
Why would you want to waste a whole day sitting in Airports and planes and spending more money when all you have to do is spend an hour or two in the evening printing out documents and then the next day going to the immigration office for maybe a couple of hours....

Go in and out of the country: plane, bus or boat, as you wish.

if you have at least 500k Baht in your bank account for at least a Full 30 days before applying for a DTV Extension at your local Thai Immigration Office, along with continuous proof of remote employment/freelance work or proof of attendance in activities of Thai Soft Power, and also perhaps other documentation that the local Thai Immigration Office demands of DTV Extension Requests, then go ahead and apply for a one-time DTV Extension for 180 days.
However, the local Thai Immigration Office may not even give you the actual DTV Extension when you submit your DTV Extension Request, but only an Under Consideration (U/C) Stamp and you have have to come back to that particular local Thai Immigration Office again to get your actual DTV Extension; or,
you may find out firsthand that your DTV Extension Request was Rejected at either the 1st visit or possibly 2nd visit and have to do a Border Bounce to extend your DTV Visa anyways....
Bangkok Immigration always seemt to take more time for things and more scrutiny too. If no time pressure go to a neighbouring country and have a night or 2 break.

Fly low cost to neighbor is cheaper than in country extension i think 😊 you can even take bus to Laos or train to Malaysia! Fun & easier with a new 180 days
