Hi. In the next few weeks my DTV is reaching 180 days. Since I don't want to go through IO I either plan a flight out or using a border run agency. What is the better/safer option to do it? I didn't find any information on DTV land border bounces so far.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on the best option to leave Thailand as a DTV visa holder approaching the 180-day limit. Users suggest considering a cheap flight out or utilizing a border run agency, with opinions suggesting that direct flights (e.g., to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore) may be more convenient and stress-free. Some commenters highlight that a valid visa should suffice for re-entry, and that applying for an extension at immigration might not be necessary if you choose to leave the country for a short period.

Same day return flights to KL and Singapore for 4 to 5k baht. Both have automated passport gates and visas not required for most people.

No feedbacks on people having any difficulties re-entering on a multiple entries DTV to get stamped back in on a 180 days stay.

When you say you won’t go through IO, I guess you mean you don’t like to apply just for an extension at the immigration.

yes correct. Going through IO for extension seems to be a major hassle from what I heard

Yes probably more smooth to just use the multiple part of your visa. As said no know feedbacks on any issues re-entering on a DTV so far.

Why use an agent, you have a valid Visa?

I have a valid DTV and want to extend for another 180 days but not through IO

I know but why do you think you need an agent to border bounce?

Although theoretically possible to extend as some have already it’s almost certainly easier to bounce out and back for another 180 day stamp.

1,900 baht to extend will probably be cheaper than a bounce for many, but providing the copious amounts of paperwork and proof of study/earnings will make it seem the easier option in the long run.
