I went to CM immigration for my 1st Covid extension (after tourist visa exemption extension that expires on the 5th of Jan) and got a stamp with under consideration till 10th of Jan and have to show up again on the 10th. Is this normal? Am I missing something? After queues/paperwork/fees I get 5 days? Anybody else had similar experience? Any thoughts? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user experienced receiving a 5-day 'under consideration' stamp after applying for a Covid extension at Chiang Mai immigration. This prompted questions about the normality of such a brief extension period, given the usual longer times associated with immigration processes. Commenters confirmed that receiving similar short stamps is common, with experiences noting 14-day 'under consideration' periods before obtaining full extensions.
It seems it is common to get a 14 day under consideration stamp and you go back and get the full 60 days after that. Did they ask for an outbound ticket?
no, but the 14 day isn't from the end of the extension? Since I got 5 extra days it was basically 14 days from today (the day of application). When/if I go back do I have to do the whole application process again?
it is up to the officer I believe some people get it directly some get under consideration stamp. Some get 60days from applying some get it from when their current visa end. When you go back you do not have to redo the process again. Just get your extension, that is if they grant it to you.
I believe you get 7 days if it is not granted. But not 100% sure ask the officer when you are there. But if not granted I have read people who just go to another officer and re apply and get it ๐

Daniel Kim. He has to return to the "under consideration" office. You can't just go to another office. They'll simply send you back to the original office
do I have to do again the whole application (queue/paperwork/fee)ordeal or just show up for a stamp? Can I turn up few days earlier or it must be on the 10th?
