Hi, my tourist visa is due to expire on 23rd June and today I went to immigration (Phuket) to apply for the covid visa. They've stamped it as 'under consideration' and I have to return back on 23rd June.

My question/ worry is that if the covid visa doesn't continue, am I still entitled to the covid 60 days because I applied today in May and do I need to do anything extra for when I return? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their tourist visa expiring before receiving an answer regarding their COVID visa application, which is currently marked as 'under consideration'. According to community responses, the 'under consideration' stamp means the immigration office is reviewing the paperwork, and upon return on June 23, the user will find out if the extension is approved. If approved, the user will receive a 60-day extension; if denied, a 7-day extension will be granted. It's advised to bring the blue receipt when returning to the immigration office.

okay, whether the covid extension program is continued or not (it's set to expire on Saturday the 29th right now) has no bearing on you at all

At MOST immigration offices the covid extension is a two step process, you apply for it, you pay the 1900baht you get an under consideration stamp and when that date comes up you go back to the immigration office and they put the covid extension into your passport.

Just take the blue/green receipt and your passport back to the SAME immigration office on the date the under consideration stamp runs out

Same situation, also Phuket. It's confusing.

I went together with a friend and his visa expires a few days before mine. He received a "under consideration, return next week" date, but right below he already got the full extension, dated until the end of August.

Unclear what we will get on June 24, or whether my friend has to return at all.

Phuket is strange. I'd give them a ring and ask them. They have an excellent volunteer team (from what I've been told).

An "under consideration" stamp gives the immigration office more time to review the paperwork submitted to confirm that you are allowed to get the extension of stay you applied for. When you return on June 23, you will find out if you are approved for the extension or not.

If you are approved for the extension, you will get the remaining balance of the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19

If you are denied the extension, you will get a 7 day extension of stay denied stamp. For a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, I *NEVER, EVER* heard of anyone being rejected.

When you return to the immigration office, show them the blue receipt.
