How long do I have after a non-B visa cancellation before the exit order takes effect?

I am in the process of switching employers, which will require the cancellation of one visa (non-B) before the application for a new one. A potential problem lies in a time lag between the cancellation and the new application, because the cancellation (I believe) comes with an exit order. My old employer is unwilling to advance the cancellation date forward to make it easier to get a new visa.

Thus the question: How many days after the effective date of a non-B cancellation are given before an exit order takes effect?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After the cancellation of a non-B visa, you typically must leave Thailand immediately unless you apply for a 7-day grace period for a fee of 1,900 baht. Additionally, there may be a COVID-19 extension available for 60 days, allowing more time to secure the new visa, depending on current regulations.

Presuming you are on extension of stay your current permission to stay ends the day your employment ends. You can get a 7 day extension at immigration for 1900 B. Now I am not sure if you can get a 60 day COVID extension to tide you over until you can change employers. That’s for the more expert folks as I haven’t seen that one anywhere.

Almost correct. A person who does not qualify for any extension of stays can apply for another extension of stay. If they apply for an extension of stay and they do not meet the requirements, they will get a "Extension of Stay Denied" stamp, which lets them stay in Thailand for another 7 days.

(On the application, write "7 day extension of stay denied stamp". They will know what it is).

Anyone, on any visa (except the STV) can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

thanks for confirming that. Yes the 7 days is actually an extension denied stamp with 7 days to leave the country. Saw on another thread the exact sequence that has to be followed as well.

Okay, you cancel your work permit, then take that and the termination documents to the immigration office and they will cancel your "extension of stay" <- (which is NOT a non-B visa). effective the termination date on your paperwork.

I think you are mixed up talking about the 'exit order'. the second the termination date comes up you leave. You CAN buy a 7 day "extension denied" stamp that gives you a week to leave. BUT you can't get a new visa/extension from that stamp SO your only option is to cancel the current extension you're on and then apply for a 60 day covid extension (which is available until Sept 27th) that would buy you two months

Thanks! Two questions about the 60 day COVID extension: 1) what paperwork is needed for it? 2) Can it be done at Chang Wattana or do I have to go to the other one at Muang Thani?

, if you got your non-B extension at Chaengwattana that's where you go to cancel it and you apply for the covid extension at the same desk

There are hundreds of threads on the group as far as what paperwork you need. Search for it in the search bar. (y)

Usually you would need to leave immediately or you could apply for a 7-day grace period @ 1,900 baht. Currently though, there is COVID 60-day extensions, which can be applied for at the same time of terminating the NON-B. Should give you 60 days for getting everything required for a new NON-B. So current situation should actually work in your favor.
