Is a sponsor letter sufficient for financial proof for a Thailand Non-O 90-day visa?

In the past I've had some non-immigrant O multiple entry visas (1 yr) from Savannakhet Laos based on famliy - wife - kids. Then they changed it to 90 day. Now it's evisa. I went through the evisa process to get the 90 day single entry Non O and there was one line that is asking for 400K in the bank proof or 40K per month proof letter from embassy. I have neither. It also mentions 'sponsor letter'.

Here's the copy/paste: 4 . Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 40,000 THB or having the current balance of 400,000 THB (e.g., bank statements for the last three months, sponsor letter)

I am not sure showing money is a requirement at Savannakhet for the Non O 90 day single entry - is it now?

Could the 'sponsor letter' suffice? My wife wrote a letter in Thai that explains that she's responsible for financial issues related to my stay. Does that work?

Thanks for any insight...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the requirement for financial proof when applying for a 90-day Non-O visa for Thailand, particularly through Savannakhet, Laos. The original poster details their experience with e-visa applications and the need for either 400,000 THB in a bank account or a monthly income proof of 40,000 THB. They inquire about the acceptance of a sponsor letter from their wife as financial evidence, as they currently do not have the required funds. Comments confirm that presenting financial evidence is now mandatory, and there is uncertainty about the acceptability of a sponsor letter, suggesting that direct confirmation from the consulate might be beneficial.

I have my girlfriend just email me an invite to stay with her and gives the address. For income proof I sent photos of my pension certificates

You can apply based on monthly income as well, by proving three months bankstatments of min 40K baht a month.

Yes, it's a requirement. E-visa standardized all embassies, and now they all require proof of financials, even for the 90-day non-O visa. They used to not require it, but now they do.

As far as the sponsor letter, I don't know. You could have your wife try contacting the consulate.

I'm currently here in Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa with 30 day extension but looking to extend another 30 days. Is this possible. Immigration told me next time to apply for a non o immigrant multi entry visa in my home, USA. True or not plus any way to extend 30 days for a total of 120 days. Thank you Mike

There is no other extension. You already got your 30 day extension. Unless you are married to a Thai, but even then it's not likely.

thanks Brandon, I was hoping you'd reply as you seem to know what's up. Will try through visa service. Do you have any info about what a "sponsor letter" is?

It's probably different for every embassy, as it's not a commonly used method. A visa service is only going to provide you with the information that will make them money, so likely they will want to charge you to get a non-O inside of Thailand.
