Hi, I talked with lawyer about marriage visa and I can apply it only in Thailand (first apply non o visa abroad and then come back to apply marriage in Thailand). I would like to ask about letter of income. It can be document from my accountant (I have company in my country) with information how much I earn yearly? It will be enough? I want to avoid sending 400.000thb and keep for few months on Thai bank account.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The applicant inquires about the validity of using a letter from their accountant, detailing their yearly income, for applying for a marriage visa in Thailand, given the challenge of sending a minimum amount to a Thai bank account. Responses suggest alternative options, including using an income affidavit from the embassy or applying for a Non-O visa from nearby countries like Laos or Vietnam, where financial documents may not be necessary.

Temporary solution while you build up 12 months of Foreign Funds transfers in your Thai Bank Account. (just have your foreign salary sent there each month). How to "buy" time... Go to the Thai Consulate in Savanakhet or HCMC Vietnam (with minimum marriage documentation, (no financial requirement) except for the Visa Fee. This O Visa one year Multi Entry does require you to do an "out and back in" border run every 90 days. And you can stretch it from 12 to 15 months. Now at the end of 12 months or so you will have 12 documented International Transfer Deposits into your bank account. Armed with that info and more extensive marriage docs you can go to a Thai Immigration Office where you live and apply for a One Year Extension of Stay based on the original O Visa for marriage to a Thai lady. And this Extension of Stay only requires reporting to the Thai Immigration Office once every 90 days.

Tod Thomas - well Robert has spelled it out... When you need more details - then this subject has been discussed endlessly here on this Group. Just go to search at the top of the page and search the various terms... You can choose "Recent". I am betting that thousands of guys have done this over the years. The procedure for this is well documented by the many who have gone this route

Thanks. It makes sense. I think this solution could be the best one :)

I now see that Robert has already made this alt recommendation... So now you have it again with only slightly different wording

you have an alternative: Go to Savannakhet in Laos or HCMC in Vietnam and apply there at the Thai Consulate for the 1 year multiple entry Non Immigrant O visa based on being married to a Thai National. On each entry you get 90 days of stay inside Thailand, then you make a border run for a new 90 day of stay, if good planned you can get 15 months of stay out of this visa. You do not need to show any financials other then the 5.000 Thb fee for this visa.

Thanks for the response. My embassy doesn't provide document like that. My company is not in Thailand too, so I am wondering how to manage this issue without sending money to Thailand.

you can apply for Non-Imm-O based on marriage on almost every embassy or consulate of Thailand in any country (however the financial proof, some want to see and others not) and also you can do a conversion from a Tourist Visa to a Non-Imm-O based on marriage inside Thailand on some Immigration offices
Gregor **********
the money does not need to be in an account in Thailand when you apply for a Non-Imm-O single entry in your country. You will receive a 90-Day Stay permit upon entering Thailand, time enough to open the account and deposit the 400K for the two months-period needed prior to your application for Extension of Stay Based on Marriage
Gregor **********
no, it needs to be an account in solely your name. If you and your wife keep a shared account, the money will have to be 2 times 400K = 800,000

OK, understand. Thanks. So other question - can I put this money on someone else's account in Thailand (my wife) or it should be my account? I am not in Thailand now and didn't open account yet.
Robert *******
Sorry, but there is a need to send money into Thailand. You need this to be allowed to stay inside Thailand.
Gregor **********
no, no other solutions than those two explained by Robert Lagas. You will have to follow Thai rules, not your own rules. If you have the money, just deposit the 400K in a thai bank, it is the easiest method to obtain a Non-ImmO based on marriage Extension. And the money is a good emergency fund in case you need hospital

Sure, I understand, but I have this money, just not in Thailand, because there is no need to keep it here. I use Revolut account with Thai baht currency, so I can pay in Thailand everywhere by card or withdraw money from every ATM. Just make no sense to send 400.00thb to show I have money, because I will loose based on exchange rate and keeping money here which cannot work (like a frozen). So no other solutions?
Robert *******
you can not, Thailand Immigration wants to see that you have enough funds to live inside Thailand. You can not pay bills if you do not have any access to money is their simple logic.

Depends on the country of origin. OR you use the income affidavit from your Embassy with a minimum income of 40.000 Thb a months, OR in case your Embassy does not provide this income affidavit, you use at least 12 months prior application date a monthly foreign deposit of minimum 40.000 Thb into your Thai bank account OR use tax and sso payments for the last three months if you work inside Thailand and copies of the work permit, OR you provide letters from the bank and a bank book showing at least 400.000 Thb 2 months prior the application date on your Thai bank account.
