I just calles the Thai embassy in Madrid and they told me that I cannot have a sponsor and it should be me the one who has these 500k in the bank.

Does anyone know more about this?

Could this be possible even tho in the website it says I can have a sponsor?

Thank you for the answers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the requirement of having 500,000 THB in their own bank account for a visa application, as they were informed by the Thai embassy in Madrid that a sponsor is not allowed. Comments from others suggest that while some embassies might allow sponsorship under certain conditions (like immediate family members), it seems inconsistent across different embassies. It's advised to possibly transfer the necessary funds into the applicant's account and maintain them there for a period before applying.

Sponsor letters are usually for main applicant (parent, spouse) who are applying for a DTV for their dependants (immediate families). Your best bet is to borrow the 500k and have it in your bank account with your name. A lot of people were able to use their bank statement with the money transfered within days of application.

However, if you search this group, someone recently was approved with a sponsor letter from their family. I can't remember which embassy approved this but it's a first I've heard. So maybe try a different country if that's possible for you

Anonym deltagare I've seen this reply from the Thai embassy in Hanoi, when a person asked if their employer could sponsor them. I haven't seen any posts of a DTV-application actually being approved in such case though...

Oh, I found one...

However, in your case, I think your best option is if your sponsor could actually transfer the money to your account, as others already suggested.

Your best course of action is to have your sponsor bank the cash into your bank account, but even then, you might have to wait until it has been in your account for three to six months. It is ridiculous that each embassy can make up their own rules, but that's the system that we have to live with. Good luck.

yeah I agree that this is quite ridiculous....

Each embassy has the final say, so if they are telling you this, then it is possible. From what I have seen, sponsorship option has not worked, unless it is your employer.

Thanks for the response!!

Do you know of any agency that can help me out with it?

Also rn I already applied. Should I wait until they have a final answer or can I travel to another place where they can accept it?

Anonymous participant doubt you are going to find another location that accepts it. Better to have whoever you was willing to “sponsor” you, have them transfer the money intro your account.

Do not use agents waste of money, they can’t do anything that you can’t do yourself.

They cannot sort of speedup the process or make it easier to get approved?
Henrik *****
No, and since they can’t bribe Embassy personel in other counties, they will be of no help, even if they say they can.

And you should never support corruption.

You can go the the website of the Embassy you will use, to see the estimated processing time, but add 50 % longer in December and January.

Anonymous participant if you've already applied you can supply additional information. Borrow the money and put it in your bank. Stay where you are
