ORIGINAL POSTER
I want to apply for a 90 days non o visa inside Thailand. Situation: Entered Thailand 12th of February (visa exempt 60 days) together with my Thai wife and 4 children, kids all have Thai id's. My question is regarding the financial requirements to obtain the initial 90 days non o visa. I have searched the whole of internet and didn't find conclusive information.

I think a bank statement from my home country will be sufficient and a Thai bank account not required. (almost impossible to open anyway on a visa exempt)

My wife called the immigration office, they mentioned bank statements but stamped by my embassy.. I actually doubt this answer. Does anyone here have the correct information? I'm trying to avoid going back and forth multiple times to the immigration office and have all paperwork done correctly at my first visit.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the financial requirements for applying for a 90-day Non-O visa while already in Thailand. The user entered Thailand on a visa-exempt status and wishes to transition to a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national. The primary concerns include whether a bank statement from their home country is sufficient or if a Thai bank account is necessary for the application process. Commenters clarify that for an initial Non-O visa based on marriage, applicants must either have 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account or obtain a financial affidavit from their embassy in Thailand. Additionally, they emphasize the challenges of opening a Thai bank account while on a visa-exempt entry and the possibility of needing to visit the immigration office multiple times for document verification.

you could go to a nearby country and get the 90 day Non-O visa by showing proof of funds using the bank account in your country, THEN it might be easier to open an account once you come back and are on the 90 day entry stamp from the Non-O visa

If you don't come from a country whose embassy still issues the income affidavit notary letter (which the UK, US, Australian and soon Canadian embassies do NOT) you have to bank the 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only

Sadly there usually isn't a way to avoid going to the immigration office a couple times, FIRST to get the correct list of what's required and then to apply with those documents, bank letter, bank book, photos, map, copies, etc

A bank statement from your home country only works for a non O e-visa from your home country

If you want to apply for an initial Non-O visa based on marriage, you have to have one of these two as financial proof:

- funds of 400K THB in a Thai bank account, not outside Thailand

Or

- an affidavit for financial proof from your embassy in Thailand.

Unless your embassy issues an affidavit, you must have a Thai bank account to be able to apply for an in-country Non-O visa.
