Can I use a sponsorship letter for the DTV visa application in Thailand?

Hello everyone,

My fiancee and I are moving to Thailand in January and I’m hoping someone here can point us in the right direction regarding the DTV visa.

Over the past year my fiancée hasn’t been able to work due to health issues, so I’ve been the only earner. Because of that, we haven’t saved much.

I *can* show over 500,000 THB in income from the last 6 months through invoices, but I don’t currently have that amount liquid because I reinvest a lot back into my online business.

My fiancée has recently started a small freelance gig too, so we’re both digital nomads. Just without the full liquidity right now.

I read on a few websites that a sponsor can be used for the DTV visa. My father is willing to write a sponsorship letter for both of us (so 1M TBH in total), but I’m not sure if that’s actually allowed or accepted in practice, and if this specific case is an option.

Has anyone here used a sponsorship letter for their DTV application?

Any guidance or experience would help us a lot.

Thank you all in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on obtaining a DTV visa in Thailand, considering their financial situation and a potential sponsorship from their father. They have income but lack liquidity due to reinvesting in their business. Responses indicate that sponsorship letters may not be accepted unless the primary DTV holder is applying for dependents, and suggest alternative methods for meeting financial requirements.

The only time sponsorship letters have been accepted is when the primary DTV holder applies for their dependants, and spouse application under their DTV. It has not worked with parents sponsoring family members when they themselves don't have a DTV. Also, being that you are not married your fiance is on her own when applying.

Sponsorship rules vary depending on the embassy you apply from. It can be easier as many do, to 'borrow' the money from your father to deposit in your account and apply yourself.
