What does a sponsorship letter for a 500k baht requirement in Thailand involve, and is parental support acceptable?

Good day, looking at the requirements of 500k baht (or sponsorship letter) - what does the sponsorship letter entail? Can I for example get a letter from my father (who lives in Thailand) and give bank statements of his showing substantially more than the required 500k baht?

Effectively saying that he will support me while I am here? Would this be acceptable? Any feedback would be appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry discusses the nature of the sponsorship letter needed to meet the 500k baht financial requirement for a visa in Thailand. The user wonders if a letter from their father, who resides in Thailand, along with his bank statements proving he has more than the required amount, would be acceptable as a form of sponsorship. Responses highlight that some embassies may have specific rules about who can sponsor and emphasize contacting the relevant embassy for accurate details. Suggestions include having the father transfer funds to the user's account during the application process and using immigration agents while cautioning about potential fraud related to visa applications.

Get an agent, its so easy

Scott Edwards really. How much are they charging now? Do they provide financial proof also?

don't go down that way... it's fraught with fraud. Especially if there's a crackdown similar to what happened with fraudulently obtained Ed Visas and Volunteer Visas

any recommendations on the agent?

If it’s your father, maybe you could ask him to put the money in your account during the application process

do I not need evidence that the money has been in the account for up to 6 months before?

Many Embassies are ok with an ending balance of 500K THB plus 3-6 months statements

awesome, is it better to have the money in a Thai bank account or the account of my home country?

For clarity, I have a Thai bank account already because I have a student visa and I'm currently in Thailand

it can be any bank account. You will cancel your student visa then apply under which DTV option?

Soft power activities for Muay Thai. So I'm currently on the student visa and will effectively convert to the DTV to stay a little longer and be able to travel a little more freely.

On the student visa, if you want to travel, you require a re-entry permit each time... extra trip to immigration

will you cancel your ED visa first before leaving thailand to apply? I'm in the same boat and worried if I cancel my ED and can't get a dtv it'll be such a hassle to reapply

I am not 100% sure of what the process entails as of yet. My school will be helping me with the process. I'll come back to this thread once I have more info

ok, choose a gym with a DTV approval record and knows what paperwork to give. Check Tiger Eye and MuayThaiFever in the threads, several posts of approval from them.

thanks for the feedback. I'm currently at Chakrit Muay Thai school and they have had a few of their students who applied for DTV and were successful so will see if they can get their paperwork in order for me

@Jaco ********
, That's ok then, if you got a school with a track record.

Some embassies only approve of an employer as a sponsor. You have to contact the embassy you will apply from for their sponsorship details.

I dont think so.

Or a company letter, or you as freelancers with tax paid and do your own presentation letter as I did.
