Went to CM immigration today for retirement extension with the letter from the bank that they issued only to find, after queuing for one hour, that they wanted a statement from the bank of transactions. The bank book and photocopies were not sufficient- they were last year (There was of course no advice posted outside immigration saying this.) Back to Bankgkok bank in Bo Sang ,they would you believe, cannot simply print a copy off, they have to apply to head office in Bangkok. That will take until next Wednesday 12th. Here's the rub, CM immigration expect the bank information to be very recent, when I get it it will be over one week old. Now if immigration say it's too old and Bangkok Bank can't print one that's catch 22 . I've had the money in the bank for 5 years!!!!!!!!
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user faced challenges at Chiang Mai immigration while applying for a retirement visa extension. After queuing for an hour, they were informed that a recently updated bank statement was required, not just a bank letter or older documents. The user had to wait for the bank to provide a statement, which would be over a week old by the time they received it, raising concerns about immigration's acceptance of it. Community members discussed differing requirements based on the specific immigration office, suggesting that the need for a year-long history might not align with regulations. Ultimately, the user was able to obtain a six-month statement that was accepted for the extension, highlighting inconsistencies and confusion in the process.
