Today, I went to Samui Immigration for my non-o visa renewal appointment. They took the documents and stamped my passport with 8 August as the day to go back. I want to book international flights leaving as soon as possible after my visa is processed. So, my question is: how long does the process take from 8 August? When can I book my flights after this date?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The visa renewal process for a NON-O visa at Samui Immigration typically allows you to extend your stay on August 8, with some users mentioning that visa approvals are finalized on that exact date. After your visa is processed and you receive a re-entry permit (which is advised to avoid complications), you may be able to book international flights for the same day or the following weekend. However, if your passport is required to stay in the immigration office for an additional day (usually a common practice), you may need to plan for a flight after August 9 or 10. Make sure to check the specific policies at the Samui office regarding re-entry permits and any possible delays due to local holidays.

Ray, I go back to Samui for mine each year. They've always been on the exact date. If you do want to get a reentry permit while you're there, that's your passport stuck there till next day....God knows why!
It so happens that 8 August is a Friday and it is the Queen Motherโs birthday on the Monday, plus they just added another holiday to that making it 2 days. I feel like Iโm never going to get out of here!
Maybe I should book flights for the weekend and try to do my re-entry permit in Bangkok at the airport. I guess thatโs a whole new post.
Iโm trying to get back to the UK to coincide with a visit from my Dad who has already booked tickets from Spain.
Hi ๐ Sorry, itโs me again. I just wanted to check on re-entry permits in light of what Martin has said above and the unfortunate timing of my stamp date.
First, I guess I canโt apply for a permit until my visa extension has been approved?
Second, to avoid my passport getting stuck in Samui immigration over the Queen Mothers two day holiday, is it easy and usual to get a re entry permit at the airport on my way out?
Good guess (y) can't get a re-entry until you get the extension OR it'd be good ONLY for that under consideration stamp ๐
at Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi the re-entry counters are open

You can pay an extra 4000 baht for multiple entry otherwise you have to get a re- entry permit before every departure 1500 each time . Some people have forgot this making the visa invalid when they return and they have to start again ๐ค
so itโs possible for me to get a re-entry permit before I get the final visa stamp and approval?

You got an under consideration stamp that says come back on the 8th of Aug
When you show up that day they'll ink the year extension into your passport. Right after they do, buy a re-entry permit and you can leave any time after they hand the passport back
Sometimes that offices makes you come back the following day to pick the passport back up. So worst case the 9th-10th of Aug :)
Yes good advice as several times my approval hadnโt arrived on the set date and I had to come back 2-3 days later. They told me not to travel far until I got the one year stamp.
thank you for your input. Just to clarify - you didnโt always get your stamp on the same day? So it is better for me to book flights for a week after the 8 August? I am pressing about this because my dad has already booked tickets from Spain to see me in the UK so I need to get flights as close to 8 August as possible so we donโt miss each other.
They give you a date for you to return in a monthโs time to hear the verdict. If all goes well I will get the full year stamp and I will then immediately apply for a multi re-entry permit. However, a few times they said my documents hadnโt returned from Bangkok yet and they said to come back in a few days time. Also, one time on verdict day they said they werenโt going to extend my stay! But thatโs a rare occurrence. For most people โverdict dayโ is just a formality where you go back to get the full year stamp.
sometimes on extensions that go under consideration the paperwork isn't back from bangkok so they can't ink in the extension until it is
In your case if you got an under consideration stamp you got it either based on marriage, on raising kids, or volunteering here). You couldn't have been on retirement because they issue those on the spot.
Just curious why you didn't ask them when you were there today applying if you'd definitely get the extension inked in on the day you go back?
Iโve already booked flights that are incompatible with the stamp so I was upset. Iโve been working on this since January- when I started the process of UK passports for me, with a name change and my Thai/ British daughter. Itโs been six years since we made it back to the UK because covid put a spanner in the works. I feel like Iโm on my last legs with it. My dad has already booked flights from Spain to the UK and heโs probably going to need to change his too. Itโs all a bit of a rum do! ๐ซ Itโs reassuring to hear that there shouldnโt be any more holds ups. I am going to go back to immigration in the morning just to be sure. Thanks for lightening the load of this process.
