First off, thanks to those who've answered questions to help me get to this point!

When I return to immigration on 28 June, do I receive my Non-O, or do I return within 90 days to get the 1 year?

TLDR : Answer Summary
On June 28, you will receive your Non-O visa and a 90-day stay stamp. You will need to return to immigration for a one-year extension approximately 30 to 45 days before the 90-day stamp expires. It is advisable to ask for the specific requirements for the one-year extension during your visit on June 28.

Chiang Mai immigration accepts a extension request from 45 days prior to the expiration of your stamp.

Go get your 90 day Non O on the 28th, when there is 30 days left of your 90 then go apply for your 1 year extension.

I’m two days ahead of you. It’s good to know this information from people.

My understanding was, I receive my Non-O and 90 day stamp on 28 June but am required to return 30-45 days before expiration of the 90 in order to get my 1 year extension. Is that right? Thanks.

correct (y) and you will turn in all new documentation copies, bank letter, bank book updated, forms, etc because this is for the year extension

You will receive in-country Non-O and 90 days stay stamp on 28 June. Then you will go back to the same office to apply for a 1-year extension during the later half of this 90 days. Chiang Mai accepts your extension application when your stamp remains 45 days or less. Get the latest requirements list when you go there on 28 June.

You are at the first part of the whole process of in-country visa/extension applicaton.

Thank you. When I apply for the 1 year extension is it normally issued same day, or do I return another day to get it? (I'm trying to book a short trip out of the country and don't want to mess with timing at immigration.)

, AFAIK, Chiang Mai issues an extension on the spot, same day. If you already have a plan to travel out of Thailand, i think it would not be a bad idea to talk with the officer about your travel schedule when you go there in 28 June.

most offices issue it on the spot. There's a few Phuket, Jomtien, Samui that make you come back the next day to pick up the passport>

Make sure once you get the extension inked in you buy a re-entry permit (single 1000baht or multiple 3800baht) so you can exit/re-enter the country and not lose the same you have

You need to return to immigration on the 28th June to get the 90 day visa stamped into your passport. When you have 30 days or so left on that 90 day stamp you will need to apply for a 12 month extension. Ask immigration for the requirements for the extension when you go to get the visa stamp.

Thats what this receipt advises

So am I required to return to immigration within 90 days to get the 1 year extension?

right at most offices you can go when you have 30 days or less left on the current stamp, and you can go the very last day the stamp is good for if you want, although that is NOT advised seeing as if you are short a document, copy, etc you don't have time to sort it out

That's why most people go once they have 30 days or less left on their stamp, there is no down side to applying early the year extension is added to the current expiration date of the 90 day Non-O visa stamp

Just noticed that is from Chiang Mai, and you can apply for the year extension when you have 45 days or less left on your 90 day stamp (once you get it) and in Chiang Mai they issue the extensions on the spot (you don't come back to pick up the passport)

As the reciept is for 2000 baht that is for the initial Non-O,
