Non-Immigration O 1 year Renewal (based on marriage) @ Chiang Mai Immigration.

Upon applying for an extension you receive the 30 day under consideration stamp. Is it possible that the visa will be ready before the 30 days is up or can you only report back on the exact date shown? I'm going to Chiang Mai immigration if that makes a difference. Might have a need to fly to the UK urgently hence the question.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon applying for a Non-Immigration O visa extension based on marriage in Chiang Mai, one receives a 30-day under consideration stamp. Users in the forum suggest that applicants must return to the immigration office on the exact date indicated; however, discussing urgent travel situations with immigration may be beneficial. Some experiences indicate that checks on documents are rarely completed before the specified date. It's advisable to confirm with the office directly, as overstays can lead to complications.

At most offices for 30 day under consideration stamps based on marriage you have to come back on the date they stamped into your passport. I saw one person who showed up 3 days after that stamp expired and they had to start the whole year extension process all over again (AND they were fined 3 days overstay too ๐Ÿ˜ฎ) Granted that is the extreme but it can happen.

All you can do is GO talk to the immigration office you used and see what they say, I mean face it the worst thing they can say is you show up on that date or you start all over again with the extension process

Thanks all for the comments. Sadly after visiting the IO they told me it's not possible. Hence I will have to apply for a new type off visa from the UK since I need to travel to the UK before my current visa expires on 22nd December.

I asked them that last month. Can only get it on the date.

and what immigration office was that?

You applied for an Extension of Stay, not a visa. You can visit the Immigration office earlier but doubt that the checks on documents are ready on earlier date.

You can apply for a re-entry permit but in that case you have to be back before the mentioned date in the under consideration stamp. Discuss this with your Immigration Office.

Usually, you need to return to the immigration office on a specific date. The only possibility MIGHT be talking with the immigration office with the proof of you have to leave...

You are to return on the exact day instructed by your Thai immigration office.
