How does the new law affect the 6-month multi-entry visa in Thailand?

The new law seems to be putting the multi-entry Tourist Visa under scrutiny. With this visa, travelers typically receive 60 days per entry and a possible 30-day extension. Some users suggest that you can strategically cross the border and return to effectively stay in Thailand for up to six months through multiple entries and extensions. However, the perceived value of the multi-entry Tourist Visa may be diminishing as easier options to stay without a visa come to light.
