TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can obtain a 6-month Multi-entry Tourist Visa (METV) for Thailand; however, it requires you to exit the country every 60 days for a new entry stamp. This visa allows unlimited re-entries during its validity. An alternative option is the 90-day Non-O visa, which may also be available, depending on age and financial criteria.

Check with your thai embassy at home. Some offers a 90 days Non O visa with multiple entries. Then you just stamp out one time and you’ll have another 90 days when u re-enter. The formal requirement is 50 years and income equivalent to 65K thb a month. For six months tourist visa the financial requirements is 200K thb in total. The fees are more or less the same.
and almost NO consulates in the west that use the eVisa online system offer a Non-O visa as a year-long, multi-entry type anymore, just a 90 day single entry
That’s also what I have understood now even though many used this as an alternative to put 800K in a thai bank. In Norway they did it quite recently and there’s still people in Thailand on a Non O multiple, but when I checked the multiple alternative now is removed in the e-visa portal.
that's the way I understood it , I'm not planning on retirement there just to get of UK's shite weather ! Is it a quick border hop or has it got to be longer ?
