Hello, can someone please explain to me the diff between the three month single entry tourist visa and the six month multiple entry? I'm asking because the consular website in regards to this stipulates 90 days allowed for the 6 month visa. Should I interpret this to mean that I must spend the weekend in KL after 90 days and then return to BKK for another 90 days? I hope this question makes sensem I would just like to be able to stay in Thailand for 6 months without getting an O-A.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The three-month single-entry tourist visa allows for a maximum stay of 90 days, while the six-month multiple-entry tourist visa (METV) grants 60 days per entry, requiring travelers to leave the country after every 90-day period. Currently, with land borders closed, it's challenging to execute visa runs to neighboring countries like Malaysia. An alternative suggested is the Special Tourist Visa (STV), which allows for up to 270 days in Thailand but must be obtained from a home country.

"The METV at this time is really not a wise choice as you must leave Thailand at end of 90 days.." Sory James to rustle your tree. The METV gives you 60 days on each entry, not 90

add 60+30=90

Nongnuch Kamdee. The 60 day visa can be extended a further 30 days giving 90 days total, so

is totally correct

The tourist visa gives you a max of 90 days in Thailand ...60 on arrival plus 30 extension.

The METV at this time is really not a wise choice as you must leave Thailand at end of 90 days and no border or visa runs are possible as all land borders are CLOSED and neighbor SE Asian countries not accepting foreigners....including KL

Suggest you look at the STV visa which gives you up to 9 months stay 270 days in Thailand. Only available in your home country and CANNOT BE CHANGED into any other visa inside Thailand.

@James *******
thank you. So the metv visa is mute because I can't leave and come back right now. I didn't realize the stv was still a thing, but it appears it's just what I'm looking for. I'll look into itm thanks again.
