How do I get a re-entry permit before applying for a DTV visa in Thailand?

Hi, I am studying and the visa I have requires a re-entry permit before I leave Thailand to be able to re-enter on my current visa if I am not granted a DTV.

Planning on applying for the DTV a month before my current visa expires. 

Anyone had an issue with this? Also Immigration didn’t explain how to get a re-entry permit so not sure what the process is for this. Any advice gratefully received.

You dont need a re entry permit on a DTV it is multi entry. You MUST apply for the DTV from outside of Thailand , you will be asked to provide evidence that you are physically in that country when you apply such as entry stamp and hotel bookings.
