Do I need a re-entry permit for a DTV visa when leaving Thailand and coming back?

Once I’m inside Thailand on a DTV, when I want to leave the country for a while before coming back on the same DTV, do I need a re-entry permit? Or is the DTV visa one where you can come and go to and from the country without needing to buy a re-entry permit first?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) is a multiple entry visa for Thailand, allowing holders to leave and re-enter the country without needing a re-entry permit. This visa offers the flexibility of multiple entries until the expiry date, with each entry granting a new 180-day stamp.

this is typical of people getting visa don't have a clue. Hence why agents are required for these people even can't get a bike or car Thai licence on their own

Answer is no, this is one of the main benefits of the dtv. Can leave and re-enter as you wish, on each entry you’ll have a new 180 day stamp 👍

1.) the DTV is a Multiple Entry Visa, and

2.) any Extensions of Stay based on DTV are exempt from needing a Re-Entry Permit issued by Thai Immigration

What will this exempt mean? That when you leave during the extension it stays valid and you will not get a new 180 days for a new stay?

As the DTV is a 5 Year Multiple Entry Visa and an Extension on a single DTV Entry would be for 180 days, it is unknown as of now and might be better off to not get an Extension, but just a Border Bounce to get a new 180 day Entry.... 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I think this indeed is the most uncomplicated option, and also the way it is meant, apart from the fact that a border bounce can never be the goal of a visa of course.

I think a lot of digital nomads don't need extensions, because they just go to another location for some months and then might come back.
