Hello

Is it possible to get a tourist visa for my Thai girlfriend to come to the U.K. without quarantine in hotels on arrival, could she self isolate in my house instead.

Could anyone recommend someone that might be able to help.

And is there any agencies that could make the process easier

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster inquires about the possibility of their Thai girlfriend obtaining a tourist visa for the UK while avoiding hotel quarantine by self-isolating at home. The responses clarify that the visa application process is managed by VFS Global, which requires various documents proving ties to Thailand like employment and property. Additionally, whether she can home-isolate depends on her travel route. Currently, Thailand is not classified as a 'red' country, allowing for home isolation under specific COVID-19 testing rules. Readers emphasize the need for preparation and documentation to make the visa process smoother.

As mentioned it's a relatively easy process, just lots paperwork, biometrics test, and a letter of invitation, you can make it as though you writing personal letter to girlfriend, discussing plans and memorable places been together and stating you pay for all accommodation, and expenses, some copies your bank balance / payslips..

Covid rules are, covid test before flight 3days, then location form, and covid test day 2 and another day 8 I think in quarentine at your home for 10days, check on government website..the information is all there if look for it...

If you obtain visa book direct flight to UK incase you transit in red country meaning quarntine would be 10days hotel £1750 as opposed to 10 days at home £210 for 2 covid tests

VFS Global in the Trendy Building, Bangkok handle visas to the UK.

My gf and I tried our best to get a Schengen visa for her but it was all to no avail. Valuable time and money spent.

The reason given was that she had nothing to go back to Thailand for, which was a crap reason.

UK are not a Schengen country, even when in the EU they were still outside the Schengen area.

kind of irrelevant when the OP specified a UK visa.

I found the main thing the UK government are looking for is proof that your girlfriend has something to go back to Thailand for ,such as Job, property, land,Family commitments etc and that you are able to support her while here in the UK.

I found the process relatively easy to be fair and not as hard as many make out

When I took my lady to the UK year before last, the initial application was done online through VFS, and needed a stack of documents. My lady has a corporate position in a company in Bangkok, but still had to provide a letter from her employer stating her position, salary etc, and details about her own family and they further asked for details of any real estate holdings. I think they like to be sure there's enough in Thailand that she's not planning on staying in the UK!! As a UK Passport holder I had to invite her (even though I left the UK almost 40 years ago) and provide accommodation bookings. Once they had all this, we had to attend the Trendy Building VFS where they did her biometrics and collect the money!! It's pretty in depth for a UK visa, but she did get a six month visa, although she only stayed four weeks. I don't think the quarantine will be a deal as Thailand is in a good position compared to the UK.

Thailand isn't on the "red" list at the moment, so quarantine at home is fine. Of course, this is fluid - who knows what it'll be like in a month or 2?

The process of her applying for a visa here is complex and lengthy. She’d need to contact a company called VFS who handle all applications for the UK visas. As for quarantine at your house rather than a hotel that depends on how she gets to you. Go via a “red” country and it’s a mandatory hotel stay. Otherwise she can do at your house. Obviously the list of “red” countries is fluid and will change from day to day. Edited: By the time she gets the visa the current rules may well have changed completely. Who knows.
