TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the application process for a UK tourist visa, specifically for bringing a girlfriend from Thailand for a 3-month holiday. Many contributors recommend applying online and then making an appointment for biometrics in Bangkok. They emphasize the importance of thoroughness in the application, including providing evidence of the girlfriend's ties to home, such as employment and financial stability, to assure authorities of her intent to return after her visit. Additionally, some suggest possibly using an agent for assistance, particularly during the biometrics appointment.

Do it all online. It's very easy to follow and to do. She will only have to attend VFS for biometrics in Bangkok

Do it I line, make sure you give as much I do as possible as it’s done thru an agency first. Stare the obvious. Show that gf has a job ( and a home if possible) get a letter from her employer. Show you have plenty of money to keep her , I got 6 month in 3 weeks then a 2 year visa that took 2 weeks , you need to show she will return after visit.

Fill in the on line application form and upload all the evidence on line. Be thorough, follow all the guidance and do not hit submit until you are sure it is complete as once submitted you cannot add anything else. The good news is you can save and update it as many times as you like before you submit it. You could pay an agent to help but in the end you will still have to collate all the evidence to upload. I did mine myself it was hard work but went through ok both times.

It’s all online, then you make an appointment for biometrics for her in Bangkok where they can copy and translate any documents not uploaded in the application. At biometrics only she will be able to go in the room and hand the paperwork in.

It’s a long process and a lot of work

I am in the middle of this process right now. Second attempt at getting my gf of more than 2 years a 3 month short stay visa to come to Ireland. Interested to hear other people’s experiences.

does she have a good job here with her own monthly salary in her bank book? Does she have many good reasons to come back here? Family house children job etc. Does she have a letter from her employer giving her time off and her job back when she returns. All that greatly increases her chances.
