I'm trying to get sorted right now with an extension for visiting children of Thai nationality. We have everything except for house registration. How do we get him under a house registration when we rent? Tried asking immigration but no clear answer. Just to get it done.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on how to register their residence for visa extension purposes while renting in Thailand. They have been informed that registration can be completed online by the landlord using the TM30 form, or in person at an immigration office. There are also questions regarding the user's relationship to the Thai child, as this could affect their residency options and registration.

And on this note I think we're done.

Unfortunatelythe thread is straying WAY off the "thai VISA advice" purview of the group's scope.. Good luck to the O/P

The O/P knows what limited options they have.

I think they need to exit/re-enter the country, possibly buying a tourist visa in a nearby country before they come back, that would get them stamped in for 60 days and they could get a 30 day extension as well as possibly the 60 day visit family extension (once they get the child registered on a thai house book).

May I ask...

Are you the father of the Thai child?

I ask as in all prior postings you never mentioned being the father of a Thai child.

You always have used a tourist visa with many types of extensions since you arrived into Thailand two years ago.

Are you named as father of Thai child on birth certificate?

Do you live with the Thai child?

Are you registered as father of Thai child?

Yes, He is 4 months old now. I'm on the birth certificate but I need to go to court to get it legalized still. I think you need to do that if not married. So I am using this extension for more time to get the Thai child visa.

, just so you're clear an uncontested parental rights case thru family court takes close to SIX months to wind it's way thru the court (most of that time is waiting) before you get the decree granting you legal parental rights. So a 60 day visit thai family (or another 60 day covid extension if you qualify) isn't gonna do anything to help you get a visa/extension based on raising a thai child here 😕

wonderful. Congratulations ...

And next step for you is ???

... Get a one year extension as Father of Thai child with 400,000 Thai baht deposit in Thai bank in your name only ?

...or get married with same deposit and can legally work in Thailand ?

There are different ways to register that you reside at an address in Thailand.

The house owner or landlord or the one you pay rent, can use the on line service mentioned on the website from Immigration under TM30 or download from there the app for Android or apple device.

Alternative is a visit to Immigration, by you and landlord with your passport and departure card and his ID card and Blue Housebook to fill in the so called TM30 form and register you

how would they register a 4 month old child? They only have a birth certificate. Also is it ok to have him registered in a different house book than his mom? Or should we also register his mom here as well? Thanks again

thank you so much for your reply Robert. So we can have the owners (currently in the USA) go online and add us. I'm sorry, which website is this?

most thai children are listed on the house book listing that their thai MOTHER is in. I would wager that the child's mother is listed in a thai house book back at the property where she was born and the family lives (as that's really common)

Get the child listed in that house book, it doesn't have to be where you live now,

thanks Tod. We attempted to do this (we all live in Samui). But they told us we all have to fly to sisaket to do this. Would you advise just flying out there?

@Aaron *******
just get him registered in the house book that the mother is in. That's what people usually do, especially when renting. Few landlords will let thai tenants get on the house book.
