TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information on how to register their address each time they return to Thailand, mentioning that the process seems complicated due to language barriers and uncooperative landlords. Comments provide guidance, indicating that while registration can be done online in Thai, landlords typically need to be involved for the initial registration. It's advised to visit immigration with necessary documents to update the TM30 form, and involve the landlord for any legal requirements.

Go to your land lord, show him/her this movie, it is in English and Thai and he/she will start helping you out:

Jana, the presence of your landlady (or power of attorney) is only needed the first time you move into your address.

When you travel abroad and come back TO THE SAME ADDRESS you should go to inmigration and UPDATE your existing TM30. The only things you need for that is your passport, your new TM6 and your TM30. That's all.

Tod Daniels yes I understand, and all i pointed out was that these inconsistent policies are NOT consistent with the LAW - such as Bangkok not requiring TM30 presently.

Jomtien fined several people the other day for failing to lodge new TM30, after returning form overseas and other provinces...one foreigne argued that he was told by staff at Jomtien he did not need to lodge new TM30 if he was not departing the country and returning to same address...and his account is consistent with other peoples accounts too...yet they still fined him and refused to accept they had given him the different advice previously.

My warning is simple, we all know there are in consistencies across different offices, but there are also inconsistencies within the same office that could get you fined.

You need to realize that different immigration offices handle the TM.30 form differently when people are coming back to a residence they have been registered at. NOT all places make you or your landlord file a new TM.30.

In Chiang Mai all you do is go in, give them your new arrival card number (so they can update their system) and you get a new date stamp on your OLD TM.30 receipt. Like this

@Álv***
this is not consistent from one office to the other. What works in one province does not necessarily work in another province, they all have their own rules.

In Phuket recently after five days outside Thailand I needed Power of Attorney with tax stamps, House lease, copy passport, copy house book.

as explained above

!? Then in my city inmigration office they're out of the law because I did exactly that last week...

Álvaro R. Royo everything you said is not compliant with the law...as the owner must notify by completing the TM30 online or on paper, within 24 hours, everytime the foreigner stays/returns to their rsidence after being away for 24 hours - regardless of returning to same address or not.

The lodgement of a new TM30 form allows for any changes to TM6 on returning foreigners too.

The fact a local immigratiom office may apply their own set of rules and procedures does not mean they are technically compliant.

And I've seen firsthand foreigners fined in the same office that told them previously they didn't need to do it...the IO would not accept any responsibility or reality that they had provided wrong or misleading information.

That's why I said, be warned...you may follow their local procedures (as you outline) only to be fined later (in the same office) for not following the technically correct process!

Glen what's not compliant?
Glen *********
That's not technically compliant with the law, and is inconsistently applied...so be warned!

Sorry but only hotels and property owners have access to online TM30 reporting, if you are doing it yourself then you need to do it in person at immigration - and depends on your location as to whether it's strictly enforced.

The requied signature is on your lease.

Jana Grznar call your landlord from the immigration office and ask an immigration officer to explain to her what she needs to do and that it’s a legal requirement.

We are also in Phuket and also needed Power of attorney from owner to do it ourselves
