TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder can extend a normal tourist visa only once per entry into Thailand. After that, the only way to stay longer is to do a 'border run,' which involves leaving Thailand and re-entering to obtain a new visa-exempt stamp for another 30 days, which can also be extended once.

@Nongnuch *******
I answered his post. He asked how many times can he extend. I did not preach to him the crap technical stuff

you get a 30 day extension on a tr60 which extends your stay to 90 days means the same.

I know how the visa stuff works I fly every month and have done for many years and have had many different visa over the years. Go preach somewhere else

when you enter Thailand on a single entry 60-days visa, you receive a 60 days stay permit, and the visa itself expires and becomes invalid or "used". That's why you cannot "extend a visa" - because it already is invalid! You can extend this 60-days stay permit with a further 30-days stay permit

yes you are but the post was a question about extension of a visa not about border runs

@Nongnuch *******
extension or extend simple terminology extension is still extending your 60 day visa to 90 day stay

@Nongnuch *******
you can get a 30 day extension on the TR60 visa

you cannot "extend a visa" on Immigration. You can only apply for an extension of the stay permit. A single entry tourist visa becomes invalid upon entering Thailanmd. You will receive a stamp that says "admitted until" and an expiry date for this stay permit. This stamp is not a visa

@Billy ********
so you flew to Yangon each time to apply for a visa at the Thai embassy ?

you do "border runs" in Ranong, not "visa runs". A visa run is when you visit the Thai embassy in a country to apply for a visa. Ranong to Khaewtung is a border bounce

Oh no, I'm talking about a visa run to Myanmar, checking for yourself, I already did it twice and know some people that did 8 times already. It 2300 the though each run. Depends on your nationality

once is all you can extend a visa at immigration

Nope, you’ll need to do a border run.

You can only extend once per entry.

You can do what’s known as a border bounce where you leave Thailand and immediately return to get a visa exempt stamp for 30 days, which is also extendable once.
