TLDR : Answer Summary
To switch from a non-immigrant B visa to a non-immigrant O marriage visa while holding a work permit in Thailand, you generally need to cancel your current visa extension based on work and apply for a new extension based on marriage. For the marriage extension, you will need to show proof of funds, such as having 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for at least two months or proving a monthly income of 40,000 baht. Additionally, it may be necessary to provide documentation from your employer explaining why you are canceling your work extension.

and will you be meeting the proof of funds for the marriage extension with the 400K baht banked money OR with the 40K baht monthly income because you work here legally?

AND

Are you on the initial 90 day stamp from a Non-B VISA or are you on an "extension of stay" based on employment? Look in your passport?

correctly stated IF you're on an extension based on employment you don't need ANY Non-O VISA.. All you're doing is changing the reason for your extension from employment to marriage

You'd go to the immigration office cancel your employment extension and immediately apply for a new yearly extension based on marriage by meeting the documentation and the financial requirements for 1900baht

You'll get a 30 day under consideration stamp and then after a month go back and get the year extension inked in.

Thanks a million this makes good sense. So I wouldn't have to cancel my work permit, just change my extension of stay?

correct
@Ste***
you would cancel the extension based on employment with documents from your employer and then immediately apply for a new yearly extension based on marriage to a thai.

If you're on an extention of stay based on work you cancel this and immediately apply for an extention based on marriage, you'll need 400,000bt seasoned in a Thai bank for 2 months for the marriage extention. You may also need paperwork from your employer stating the reason why your cancelling your work extention.
